While some women don't mind or even like having their nipples visible through their clothes, others prefer to keep them hidden. If you're one of them too, making sure your nipples aren't visible will make you feel more comfortable in yourself and your outfit.
Steps
Method 1 of 3: Hide the Nipples
Step 1. Put on reusable silicone pads to cover your nipples under lightweight fabrics
These small round or flower-shaped adhesive covers are designed to cover only the nipples, so they are a great option to use with low-cut tops and light or sheer fabrics that can make them visible. Place the sticky part on the nipple and press gently. For an even less visible solution, look for a color that is as close to your skin as possible.
- You can purchase this product online or in stores that sell underwear and intimate accessories.
- Wash them with mild soap and water after use and put them back in their original packaging for later use. The sticky part will wear over time, but many pads can be used up to 30-50 times.
Step 2. Try disposable nipple covers as an economical solution for single use
They work exactly like silicone pads: they are placed directly on the nipples and are able to stay in place thanks to an adhesive glue. It is a cheaper solution, available in packs of 4-6 elements, as it is designed for single use. Some women prefer them because they are less visible under skin-tight shirts than silicone pads, which are thicker and may stand out under very tight fabric. On the other hand, nipple covers may not be suitable for covering swollen nipples.
Try both silicone pads and nipple covers to see which solution is best for you
Step 3. For a cheap, home-made solution, use a piece of panty liners
Cut one in half, then cut out 2 circles large enough to cover the nipples, keeping the paper covering the sticky side. Stick them on your nipples and throw them away after use.
- As with nipple covers, this method may not be effective for hiding swollen nipples underneath a tight shirt. First try it out before wearing them on the go.
- You can also use a small patch or piece of surgical tape.
Method 2 of 3: Wear a Bra with Good Coverage
Step 1. Wear a preformed bra to hide your nipples under the shirts you use every day
To make sure your nipples are not visible through the bra, look for a model with thick fabric cups, called molded or pre-shaped. It won't have much padding, but the fabric will be firm enough to keep the nipples from being visible.
A padded bra will ensure greater coverage of the nipples
Step 2. Choose a strapless, backless bra for more support if you wear a top that leaves your back uncovered
This model has two cups that attach to the breast by means of an adhesive and do not close behind the back or on the shoulders. It often features a clip between the breasts (such as a bra with front closure) that allows you to connect the two cups and lift the breasts. It can be purchased online or in lingerie stores.
- To wear a strapless, bare back bra lean forward and place the cups on the outside of each breast, then attach them to each other to accentuate the hollow between the breasts.
- Wash the sticky part of the bra with soap and water after use, then let it dry and put it back in its original packaging for later use.
Step 3. Place the nipple covers inside a thin bra for extra coverage
If you prefer to wear a lace or thin fabric one, glue a nipple shield inside it before putting it on. You will be able to enjoy the feel and look of this type of bras without having to worry about your nipples being visible.
Method 3 of 3: Use Clothes to Your Advantage
Step 1. Put on a soft or heavy fabric top to prevent it from adhering to your breasts
Tight and thin meshes will make your nipples stand out more; a soft one or made with a thick fabric will hide them without the need for additional accessories.
You can also look for a dress or shirt that has a double layer, such as a petticoat or a layer of lace across the chest
Step 2. Go for a dark shirt with a print that draws attention away from the nipples
Light colors like white and pale pink will make your nipples more visible than dark colors like black, purple and dark blue. Small prints and floral patterns can also be useful for hiding the nipples.
Avoid shirts that draw attention to nipples with pleats or other elements
Step 3. Wear a tank top under a soft top
If the top you're wearing is soft and loose but transparent enough to show your nipples, try wearing a thin tank top underneath it. Choose a color that goes with the shirt or your complexion or is completely opposite and let the tank top protrude in length to make your look more colorful.
You can try this solution even with tighter shirts, however the seams of the tank top will be visible under the shirt
Advice
- Slowly remove the nipple covers and adhesive cups. It shouldn't be a painful process, but you may feel a weird sensation the first few times you put them on or take them off.
- To give the chest some support without the help of a bra, glue a strip of duct tape to the sides of the breasts and over the shoulders, as if they were the straps of a bra. Detach it slowly and gently when you no longer need it.
