Fresh flowers purchased from the florist often have too long stems and leaves concentrated only on one side. This guide will teach you how to arrange fresh flowers in the best possible way and make a beautiful bouquet.
Steps
Step 1. Choose your color scheme
You can choose flowers based on a range of colors or decide to use a monochromatic scale. Look for different types of flowers.
Step 2. Choose a vase that holds all the flowers without leaving excess gaps
The flowers should be arranged tightly together, so as to look like a single creation and not scatter from one side to the other.
Step 3. Determine the height of the bouquet
It can be calculated based on the size of the pot in which it will be placed. Small pots require a short stem, while long pots or open spaces may benefit from longer stems.
Step 4. Trim the ends of the stems
Use gardening shears and remove the stem so that the flowers fit perfectly into the pot.
Step 5. Treat the flowers to make them last as long as possible
-
Wrap the ends of the roses in wrapping paper and dip them in boiling water. Leave them in the water until it cools, then cut the stems again.
-
Spray olive oil with a spray bottle on tropical flowers to help them retain moisture.
- Dip the head of hydrangeas or other large flowers in water and let them soak for a few minutes before setting them up.
Step 6. Rotate the vase often while arranging the flowers
This is to avoid leaving out some areas and thus making the whole bouquet homogeneous.
Step 7. Insert the large, brightly colored flowers first, then arrange the smaller flowers around
Step 8. Vary the heights and color evenly
Arrange the smaller flowers on the edge and the vines towards the center at the top.
Step 9. Remember to insert a holder to the bouquet to prevent it from hanging to one side
For example, you can use leafy branches to support the more delicate flowers and give a touch of color other than the usual green. Wrap the stems with a thin rubber band at the water level to hold the flowers tightly together and help support each other.
Advice
- Try not to follow the usual schemes in the composition of the bouquet, rather used to having an image of the whole. Focusing only on one point often distracts from the general vision and does not help the composition.
- Add a few drops of bleach to the water just before soaking the flowers. This will help kill the bacteria in the water and extend the life of the cut flowers.
