Making friendship bracelets can be a lot of fun, but it's not always easy to figure out the best way to tie them on your wrist. Start making the bracelet by tying a knot on one end or forming a braid on both. Then, choose from the various non-permanent knots proposed to tie it. While it is easier to get help from a friend, there are many different ways you can try to tie your bracelet yourself.
Steps
Method 1 of 3: Tie a Loose End to a Knot
Step 1. Tie a knot before you start making your friendship bracelet
Fold the threads in half and grab them where they were folded. Tie a knot about 2.5cm from the folded side to create a loop. Then proceed with the making of the bracelet!
Step 2. Form two braids at one end
Once the bracelet is finished, use all the untwisted strands from one end to tie a knot. Then, separate the strands into two equal groups, create a braid for each group and lock each of them with a knot. Trim any excess threads.
Step 3. Pull a braid inside the ring, then tie it to create a practical closure
Once you have created two braids with the untangled end threads, thread one of them inside the ring. Then tie the two braids together to form a knot.
Remove the bracelet by simply untying the knot to separate the two braids. Then, remove it from your wrist
Step 4. Make a slip knot if you want to make an adjustable bracelet
Lay the bracelet out on a flat surface, grab the ring at the top, then fold it down to divide it in half. Grab these small, thick loops that they created and pull both braids through them. Grab the bracelet near the end with the ring and pull it so that it tightens around them.
If you want to remove the bracelet, slide the slip knot towards the end of the braids until the bracelet stretches enough to remove it
Step 5. Braid the ends to the ring if they are too long
Put on the bracelet, slip a braid into the ring and hold its end in the palm of your hand. Do the same thing with the other braid, but bring it in the direction of the elbow. Pull the braid from your palm into the ring and pull it towards the elbow. Slip the other braid into the ring and bring it towards the palm. Repeat this process three times on each side and then tie the braids together.
To remove the bracelet, untie the knot. Then look for the last twist of the braid and untie it. Keep unraveling sections of the braid until you are able to remove the bracelet
Method 2 of 3: Join two Loose Ends
Step 1. Join the two ends with a knot
Make a braid for each end and secure it with a knot. Next, tie the two braids together with a double knot and tighten it well. This should secure the bracelet to your wrist.
Step 2. Make braids and tie each one with a knot, then weave them together
Divide each end into two groups and create two very short braids on one side that only repeat the weave once or twice. At this point, group all the strands that make up the two braids and continue to intertwine them to form a single larger braid. This will create a small slit at the beginning of the braid. Lock the end of the braid with a knot and do the same with the other part. Tie the bracelet to your wrist by inserting each braid into the slot of the other.
Step 3. Overlap the two ends and tie them together with the macrame
Make a braid with the strands of each end and secure it with a knot. Then create a circle with the bracelet and overlap the two intertwined ends so that the bracelet is the desired size. Next, use two pieces of thread about 5 cm long to tie each knotted end of your bracelet to the overlapping braid. Use a different thread to create macrame knots around the overlapping ends between the two threads and remove them when done.
Method 3 of 3: Tie the bracelet yourself
Step 1. Pull a braid through the ring before threading the bracelet
If you want to wear a bracelet that has a ring on one end, first thread one of the braids on the other end into the ring and hold them both to form a large circle. As you continue to hold them, slip the bracelet into your other hand, then pull both braids to tighten the bracelet. Grab a braid with one hand and the other with the other hand and tie it together to form a knot.
Step 2. Tape one end of your bracelet to the inside of your wrist
Apply a piece of duct tape about 5 cm from one end of the bracelet. Then attach it to the inside of your wrist. Then, take the other end and loop it around your wrist and finally tie it together.
Step 3. Hold the looped end in place with the aid of a paper clip
Open a paperclip until it forms a flattened "s". Hold one end of the "s" by pressing it into the palm of your hand with your fingers. Hook the part of the bracelet with the ring to the other side of the "s". Pull the end with the two braids around your wrist and then tie them together by passing one inside the ring, while holding it in place with the paper clip. Then, remove the paper clip by sliding it out.
