Giving a check to a wedding might seem impersonal to both the giver and the recipient. Here are some ideas to improve the experience.
Steps
Step 1. Don't just put a check in an envelope and mail it
Enclose it in a nice note, and write a message by hand.
Step 2. Make sure that the check is made out to both of you and cashable by the bride OR the groom; do not name it to Gino E Gina, but to Gino O Gina
They may not yet have a joint bank account, which will make it easier for them to cash out.
Step 3. Give a significant figure for both you and the couple
For example, if you've had dinner with them in the past, give them enough to go back to their favorite restaurant, and tell them that's why.
Step 4. In the case of large shares, consider placing the check in a gift package
Find a cute little box, put the check in it and wrap it with elegant wrapping paper and a ribbon. The envelopes with greeting cards can be lost or thrown by mistake. It is much more difficult to lose a box of a certain size and with a certain weight.
Advice
- If you are putting the check or gift voucher in a box, as suggested, put a nice bow on the gift box, and cut the ends of the ribbon in the shape of a V.
- Consider a gift certificate, rather than a check, for one of the couple's favorite shops or restaurants. Gift vouchers do not have to be physically brought to the bank and cashed, making them much more convenient for the recipient.
