Hyperactive children can be tiring and, frankly, become a torment. Here are some ways to calm them down …
Steps
Step 1. Identify the reason for their hyperactivity
Keep track of when they are hyperactive, and the events that preceded their behavior. More information will allow you to prevent symptoms or take action to calm them down. If you become hyperactive by eating certain foods, do not overdo the relative amounts.
Step 2. Speak in a calm voice that doesn't let your emotions leak out
You will help them calm down and you will be perceived as having the greatest level of power over the situation.
Step 3. Give them your attention
Often hyperactive children simply demonstrate a request for attention, and only for this reason they manifest symptoms of hyperactivity.
Step 4. Don't lower their self-esteem by challenging them, always choose the path of kindness and ask them to stop
Step 5. Try giving them physical relief
This could be a massage or access to a stress ball.
Step 6. Let them vent their energies
For example, allow them to run and exercise.
Step 7. Challenge their goals to reconsider their behavior
Sometimes children are hyperactive because they enjoy annoying us, knowing that this is not what we want. React to their request for attention by using reverse psychology to dissuade them from their harassing actions. If they lose the purpose of their behavior, they will not have an incentive to continue it
Advice
- To avoid hyperactivity in the future, create a routine for the children to know what to expect and what you expect from them. Some children may be hyperactive precisely because of a lack of a routine, which is why they may become calmer.
- When you are sure of the cause of the hyperactivity, avoid it at all costs.
