In Minecraft, ladders are wooden blocks used to climb or descend vertically along a wall, in structures or in caves. If their appearance suits your structure, you can also use them as decorative elements. Ladders are very simple to craft.
Steps
Method 1 of 3: Find the materials
Step 1. Find a lot of sticks
To do it:
- Cut down a tree to get its trunk.
- Place the tree trunk in the center of the crafting grid to have a plank of wood.
- Place two wooden planks in the fabrication grid, one on top of the other, to make 4 sticks.
- Repeat for 4 more sticks.
- Use 7 sticks to make the ladder.
Method 2 of 3: Create the ladder
Step 1. Place the 7 sticks in the crafting grid
Arrange them as follows:
- Place 3 sticks in the left column of the grid.
- Place 3 sticks in the right column of the grid.
- Place 1 stick in the center of the crafting grid. The spaces above and below the central block must remain empty.
Step 2. Create the ladder
You will get 3.
Step 3. Drag the stairs into your inventory
Method 3 of 3: Place the ladders
Ladders are used for climbing both vertically and horizontally.
Step 1. Grab the ladder and place it where you want by right clicking
Keep the following in mind:
- The ladder needs a block to lean on.
- The ladder will occupy a block on the side it rests on.
- Ladders cannot be placed on glass, ice, leaves or fluorescent stones.
- Ladders are water resistant and form an air pocket.
- Ladders are resistant to lava; if used instead of glass, they will let lava light penetrate from the ceiling.
Advice
- The libraries in the strongholds, as well as the intersection rooms with the wooden ceiling, naturally contain the necessary ladders.
- NPC villages can contain ladders, especially inside tall buildings or on roofs where fence railings are present.
- Creating ladders before building a tall structure will be a wise choice. This way you can climb to the top.
- Stairs are used for climbing. There is no limit to the number of ladders stackable with each other.
- Ladders will protect you from the impact of a free fall.
