If you have a list of addresses contained in a spreadsheet or database, you will be able to use it to print labels. Read on to find out what all the steps are to take.
Steps
Step 1. From the 'File' menu, select the 'New' item and then 'Labels'
The dialog box for creating labels will appear.
Step 2. Select the 'Extras' tab
Step 3. Make sure the 'Synchronize content' checkbox is not checked '
Step 4. Select the 'Labels' tab
Step 5. In the 'Database' drop-down menu, select the data source that contains the address list, in the example 'Addresses'
Step 6. In the 'Table' drop-down menu, select the name of the sheet containing the data, by default 'Sheet1'
Step 7. In the 'Brand' drop-down menu, select the brand of labels you want to use
In the United States the standard is 'Avery'.
Step 8. In the 'Type' drop-down menu, select the label template you will use
Step 9. From the 'Database Field' menu, select all the fields you want to insert into your label
As this is a shipping label, the first field will be the 'name' field.
Step 10. Select the arrow button located to the left of the 'Database Field' menu, indicated in the image
This will insert the appropriate field in the correct position within the label
Step 11. Press the 'spacebar' on your keyboard to separate the fields inside the 'Label text' box
Step 12. Use the 'Database Field' drop-down menu again to select the 'Last Name' field
Step 13. Press the 'Enter' key
This will move you to the second line of the 'Label text' box.
Step 14. Use the same procedure to enter the following fields:
Step 15. Add the 'address' field
- Add the 'city' field.
- Enter the character ','.
- Press the 'space bar' and enter the 'Status' field.
- Press the 'space bar' and enter the 'postal code' field.
Step 16. At the end of the label structure creation procedure, press the 'New document' button
This will create a new sheet with the filled labels. In the photo you can see an example of what you should see on screen (in a new document).
Step 17. From the 'File' menu, select the 'Print' item (or use the 'Ctrl + P' hotkey)
OpenOffice will automatically detect the presence of labels and ask you to do a batch print.
Step 18. Press the 'Yes' button
Step 19. In the 'Batch Print' window that appears, be sure to select all the addresses you want to print the label for
Select the desired printer and print settings, then press the 'Print' button.
