Zoosk is quite a popular dating site, but what if you don't want to use it anymore? The site makes things a bit difficult for those who have decided to cancel their account and, in truth, the only thing you can do is deactivate it. Once deactivated, you need to remove its access to your Facebook profile and finally contact the administrators to permanently delete it.
Steps
Part 1 of 3: Deactivating the Account
Step 1. Log in to the Zoosk website
To deactivate your account you must log in to the site with your credentials. There is no way to permanently delete your Zoosk profile yourself. You must first deactivate it and then contact Zoosk staff.
Step 2. Delete or change personal information on your profile
Since you can only deactivate your account, it is best to change all your information so that it cannot be traced back to you and keep your privacy safe. Remove your name, the city you live in, your photo and all other details.
Step 3. Open the 'Settings' page
You can do this by clicking on the icon that looks like a gear in the upper right corner of the Zoosk home page.
Step 4. Find the "Account Status" item to enter the section dedicated to your profile
Click on "Edit", it is located next to the "Active" message. Select "Disable" when this feature appears. You will be directed to a "courtesy page" which will ask you to stay on Zoosk. Click on the "Deactivate Zoosk" button to disable your profile.
Step 5. Choose a reason
Zoosk always asks its members why they have decided to deactivate the account. Select the one you prefer from the drop-down menu. If you don't want to, you don't have to write anything.
Part 2 of 3: Remove Zoosk from Facebook
Step 1. Log into your Facebook profile
If you have linked your Zoosk account to your Facebook account, you will need to revoke your Zoosk permissions so that it no longer appears in your notifications. To do this you need to log in to Facebook.
Step 2. Open the 'Settings' menu
You can access it by clicking on the icon that looks like an inverted triangle in the top right corner of the home page.
Step 3. Click on 'Applications'
Find this item in the menu on the left. By selecting this item, a list of all web applications that have access to your Facebook profile will appear.
Step 4. Remove Zoosk
Find it in the list of applications and click on the "X" on the right, next to the word 'Edit'. You will be asked to confirm your decision. If you want to remove all activities related to Zoosk from your diary, make sure the relevant box is checked and then click "Remove".
Part 3 of 3: Contact Zoosk to Cancel the Account
Step 1. Open the Zoosk contact page
If you want to be sure that your profile is deleted, you need to send an e-mail request. There is no guarantee that Zoosk staff will meet your question, but being persistent doesn't hurt.
You can find the contact page by scrolling the screen of the site down to the bottom and then select "Contact us"
Step 2. Click on the "Write to Zoosk Customer Service" button
This will open a form to fill in to send a message to the staff. Please ask for your account to be permanently deleted and declare that you have no intention of reactivating it in the future. Also, let them know you've already deactivated the profile.
As the subject of your message select "Technical Support" or "Billing"
Step 3. Call Zoosk
If you don't get any response within a few days, return to the contact page and find their phone number. Call and ask to speak to a manager who can guarantee that your account will be deleted. Remember to be calm and polite or you won't get good service.
Repeat this a couple of days later until someone takes care of confirming that your account has been permanently deleted
