This article explains how to create a Facebook story using an iPhone or iPad. It also explains how to see the stories created by your friends.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: Create a Story
Step 1. Open Facebook on your device
The icon looks like a white "f" on a blue background. It is usually found on the Home screen.
Step 2. Swipe right to open the camera
This allows you to activate the camera.
Step 3. Take a photo or shoot a video
To take a photo, press the circular button at the bottom of the screen. To shoot a video, press and hold the circular button, then lift your finger once you're done.
- To switch to selfie mode, press the icon that depicts a camera with two curved arrows inside. It is located at the bottom of the screen. If you have decided to take a selfie, you can also press the smiley face icon to select an animated mask.
- To upload a photo or video from the gallery, click on the icon depicting two overlapping rectangles. It is located in the lower right corner of the screen. Then, select a photo or video.
Step 4. Add effects to the photo or video
This is optional, but you can add frames and filters to make your story stand out. Click on the icon that looks like a magic wand with a star; located in the lower left corner of the screen. Next, choose one of the following options:
- Press the three-star icon (at the bottom of the screen) to review the color and lighting filters. Scroll through the various options and select the one you want to use.
- Press the frame icon to add one to your photo or video. Just as it was explained in the case of filters, scroll through the various options and then tap the one you want to use.
Step 5. Press the rectangular smiley face to add stickers
It is located at the top of the screen. Stickers (also optional) are images that you can place anywhere on a photo or video.
- Scroll down to see the available stickers, tap on the one you want to use, then drag and drop it where you want it. You can select as many stickers as you want.
- To zoom in on a sticker, pinch two fingers apart. To make it smaller, pinch it with two fingers together.
Step 6. Click on Aa to add a text
Click on this icon at the top of the screen if you want to write a comment on the photo or video. To add textual content, select a color from the palette, then type the text and press "Finish".
- Move the text by dragging it on the screen to the desired point.
- To make it smaller, pinch it with two fingers together. To enlarge it, pinch it with two fingers apart.
Step 7. Click on the pencil icon to draw
This step is also optional. You can use the pencil tool to draw freehand on the photo. Select a color on the palette, then press the icon with three circles (in the bottom right corner of the screen) to choose the thickness of the brush or stroke. Draw what you want and then click on "Finish".
Step 8. Click on Your Story
The button looks like a circle containing the "+" sign and is located at the bottom of the screen. A confirmation message will appear asking if you are sure you want to add the photo or video to your story.
Step 9. Click on Save
The icon looks like an arrow pointing down and is located at the bottom of the screen. If you want to save the photo or video to your device, please choose this option before continuing.
Step 10. Click on Add
The photo or video will appear like this in your story. Your friends will be able to see it by clicking on the preview in the area dedicated to the stories, which is located at the top of the "News" section.
Step 11. Repeat this process to add more photos and videos to your story
The new images and movies will appear in the order they were uploaded.
Story photos and videos can be viewed twice and disappear after 24 hours
Method 2 of 2: See Other People's Stories
Step 1. Open Facebook on your device
The icon looks like a white "f" on a blue background. Usually, it is located on the Home screen. This will open the "News" section. At the top of the "News" section is the area dedicated to stories.
Step 2. Scroll through the stories horizontally to find one to see
Step 3. In this section, tap on a friend's profile photo to see the story they posted
The first photo or video you uploaded will appear. Once the first story is over, the next ones will be played (if more than one is loaded).
If you want to see all your friends' stories in order, click on "Show All" in the upper right corner of the Stories area
Step 4. Press on the left side of the screen to go back to the previous photo or video
Step 5. Press on the right side of the screen to go to the next photo or video
Step 6. Press and hold the screen to pause the story
This method is often useful with videos and stories that contain a lot of writing.
Step 7. Click on Reply to send a reply
If you want, you can type a message on the screen that appears and then press on Send.
