Have you ever wanted to make others laugh by writing a short story? Are you tired of your weak tales that go nowhere? Well then this article is for you! You will learn the basics of writing a short story and then add humor when correcting it.
Steps
Method 1 of 1: Writing Funny Stories
Step 1. Choose a topic
For some this may be the hardest part. The argument may or may not be realistic… whatever inspires you. You can do some free writing or brainstorming to choose the topic to write about. Since you want to be funny, you could write a fairy tale (but you don't have to).
Step 2. Now another difficult thing:
to think. You have to find the characters, their personalities, their history and more. It's hard to come up with these ideas sometimes, so what you need is …
Step 3. Inspiration
It is not necessarily a person; simply go where you think you will find the best inspiration. Maybe outdoors, in the woods, in the park, on the internet or maybe on the subway. It doesn't matter, as long as you're inspired.
Step 4. Decide the plot of the story
Choose the protagonists, the antagonists and the setting. You could write a funny story that happened in the neighborhood, for example. Or maybe use the place where you are to set the story there. Use ordinary people as characters. You can also use randomly chosen scenarios to set the story.
Step 5. Write
Let your ideas flow. Complete the story to the best of your ability, and when you're done, you can reread and see if the story works (read it aloud!).
Step 6. Correct typos
Step 7. Add humor
Just throw in some funny lines, funny details in the story. For example, let's say you are on the subway and a thief steals a woman's purse. You could write (after calling the police, of course): "The woman was undoubtedly defenseless; she had everything with her, from lipstick to her baby teeth, but she didn't have a cane with her. That guy was HUGE! And when I say HUGE I mean gigantic. Muscles were sticking out of his arms, he was 2 meters tall. The theft of the bag wasn't the worst thing! In fact, the worst thing would probably have been that he didn't have a donut with him. " As you can see you can insert humor cues in any situation that is intense, humorous (already), romantic or normal.
Step 8. Jokes don't have to be everywhere
In fact, if you insert a line in every sentence you write, the story will no longer make sense.
Step 9. Don't put in jokes that might be offensive to someone
The more people you make laugh, the better; you don't want to have problems.
Step 10. Share the story with your friends
Advice
- Consider writing a parody. They can be a lot of fun.
- Make your story unpredictable. Instead of wrapping up, think about writing a second part by stopping at a random point in the story to make it more unpredictable.
- Remember, ideas don't come alone! You have to be patient and seek with your resources.
- Make sure the story makes sense and that the problem the story talks about is resolved (if there is one).
- Use different, creative words. Using a dictionary can help you spice up the funniest words in context. Example: use "leaden" instead of dark or "shocked" instead of surprised.
- Look for a writing group; it can be useful to you.
