This article explains how to convert a PRN file to XPS format on a desktop computer for the purpose of viewing it without downloading or installing a third-party application.
Steps
Step 1. Search for the PRN file you want to open on your computer
Go through the folders and locate the file you want to view.
Step 2. Click on the file with the right mouse button
A context menu with various options will open.
Step 3. Click Rename in the menu
This will allow you to change the name of the selected file and its extension.
Step 4. Replace the.prn extension with.xps
Remove the ".prn" extension at the end of the file name and replace it with ".xps".
The file will then be converted into XPS format preserving the structure of the original PRN file
Step 5. Press Enter on your keyboard
This way the file will be saved with the new name and the new extension. The computer will read it as an XPS format file.
If you are asked to confirm the operation in a pop-up window, click on "Ok" or "Yes"
Step 6. Double click on the XPS file
It will open with the XPS viewer and this will allow you to see it without any alterations to the layout or design.
