Resetting a D-Link router can be useful in the event that you have forgotten your device login credentials (username or password) or in the scenario where you need to delete the current configuration to troubleshoot existing network problems. A D-Link router can be reset at any time by pressing the reset button.
Steps
Step 1. Verify that the D-Link router is currently powered on and connected to the mains
Step 2. Locate the round "Reset" button
It is located on the back of the device.
Step 3. Use a pointed object or paper clip to hold down the "Reset" button for about 10 seconds
Step 4. After 10 seconds, release the "Reset" button
The router will automatically reboot and take approximately 15 seconds to complete the reset procedure. When the "WLAN" light on the front of the device stops flashing, it means that the reset procedure has been completed. You will now be able to access the device using the default login credentials, ie username "admin" and no password.
Advice
- If you don't remember the username and password to connect to your D-Link router or if for any reason you no longer have access to the device, you can solve the problem by resetting it. This will automatically restore the factory default settings and you can create a new custom username and password.
- If you've changed or customized your router's configuration settings, such as frequency or broadcast channel, and are no longer able to connect to the internet, try resetting your device to restore factory default settings. In some cases, the changes you make to the router configuration could cause internet connection problems.
