Since evil is often considered to be related to the devil and the occult, people usually dress in a gothic or punk way when they try to look bad. Many movie villains manage to look evil without following this stereotype and you can do the same. Both choices are effective, so choose the route you prefer. Many of these tips apply to both men and women, find the ones that suit you best!

Steps

Part 1 of 2: Changing Your Appearance

Step 1. Find a bad guy to inspire you

If you are an introvert you can choose a more discreet or sexy-evil look, if you are more outgoing you can try a crazy look. Find the best solution for you.

  • Some examples of sexy and evil characters include Morticia Addams, Vampira, Dracula, and Thor's Loki.
  • Some modern and less conventional examples of evil and crazy characters include Baby from the House of 1000 Corps, Harley Quinn from Suicide Squad, Kakihara from Ichi the Killer and one of the lead characters from Tim Burton's Sweeney Todd.
  • If you prefer a less flashy look, you can dress up as a classic gravedigger (or Phantasm's Tall Man, on which Slender Man is based in part) and wear a simple dark suit with an always serious air.

Step 2. Use the contouring makeup to make the face more angular

If you really want to look evil, put your makeup on so that your face is in the shape of a triangle with the tip down.

  • Studies have shown that this face shape is considered threatening, because it looks like an angry expression.
  • To achieve the desired result, you need to emphasize your forehead and cheekbones, while you need to make your mouth, jaw and chin appear smaller.
  • You can also use contouring to look sick or dead.

Step 3. Get showy, slanted brows

Thick, angry-looking eyebrows tilted towards the nose will make you look meaner.

  • You can use an eyebrow pencil or a wax and powder kit to make your brows thicker and denser. This will also help you darken them and give them the desired shape.
  • You can also get raised eyebrows. They may look more snobbish or opinionated than angry, but they are still a popular choice.
  • Not having eyebrows (shaving or covering them) also allows you to have a creepy look. If you are going to go this route though, make sure you are fully convinced, because you will regret it if you have to go back to normal eyebrows.

Step 4. Try out different hairstyles

A popular trick is to comb your hair back into a big, wild head of hair, but all styles can work; the important thing is how you wear them:

  • You can keep your hair long and straight like Morticia Addams, tousled curls like Baby from the House of 1000 Bodies or unkempt and greasy locks like Regan in The Exorcist. You can also try female pigtails like Harley Quinn. If you have short hair, you can ruffle it a lot, or pull it all back.
  • If you're a man, you can keep your hair down and unkempt like Robert Smith from The Cure or Johnny Depp in Sweeney Todd, otherwise you can grow it like Gary Oldman in Bram Stoker's Dracula.
  • You can even draw a widow's spike using an eyebrow pencil or cut the pointed bangs, styles widely used for movie villains. Note that these shapes create a downward-pointing triangle.
  • As for color, black and red are common options for villains, but you can choose natural colors as well. Gray is on trend right now and is ideal for a classic spooky villain look.

Step 5. Grow a bad beard

If you are a man, a pointed beard or goatee and accentuated eyebrows angled towards the nose are looks scientifically associated with bad guys.

Scientists believe that holding your beard like that makes your face resemble a downward-pointing triangle, an expression considered threatening

Step 6. Put on creepy contact lenses

Today you can find them in many stores and they usually last for 30 days. White lenses are always a good choice, and all-black ones are also a classic.

  • You should find them in shops (particularly those that sell costumes and carnival items) for between € 15 and € 30, if not less.
  • Lenses usually cost more from eye doctors because they are tailored to your eyes. If you have eye problems, ask your doctor for advice before using them.

Step 7. Try to look sick or possessed

Your evil look could be inspired by Regan from The Exorcist. In this case, you will have to look very sick. Here's how to do it:

  • Put on a foundation that is slightly lighter than your natural skin color.
  • Exfoliate your lips to make them look red and swollen.
  • Put a small amount of lipstick on the tip of the nose and around the nostrils, then rub it with your fingers. You can do your lips too, but remember that they need to look natural, so don't overdo it.
  • Darken the area under the eyes. The ideal is a mauve, burgundy or brick red eyeshadow.
  • Rub some of the same red you used on the nose on the outer corners of the eyes.
  • Rub a moisturizer between your hands, then gently press them onto your face. You can also spray yourself a face spray. The goal is to look sweaty, clingy, and sick.
  • The best makeup looks natural, so avoid products with glitter or other clues that you are wearing makeup.
  • You can try a more sophisticated version of the same type of makeup, creating smoky eyes with the same colors. Do it for fun, even if you probably won't look sick anymore.

Step 8. Apply eye-catching eyeliner and eyeshadow

A dark and theatrical eyeshadow plus a winged eyeliner give a more intense look to your eyes. They also enhance your evil gaze.

  • There are many variations of the winged style of eyeliner, so choose the one you prefer. You can make very large or small and thin wings, according to your skills and style.
  • Another fun and theatrical style is Egyptian makeup. You can try a variant to see how it fits you. You will need to use more eyeliner than a normal cat's eye.

Step 9. Dress right

Popular culture villains usually wear dark colors (especially black and red). Punk and goth clothes are in fashion and you can find them in many stores.

  • It may be more interesting to create a unique look by shopping at thrift and vintage stores, then tweaking clothes to suit your style. If your clothing looks old, you will look even weirder and meaner.
  • Two horror movie characters with a unique style are Ginger and Brigitte Fitzgerald from Ginger Snaps. They have a classic, grunge and original witch look. The most distinctive item of their clothing is the bird skull necklace they made themselves.

Step 10. Use the accessories

Conventional accessories include skulls, crosses, spikes, and other horror or punk-themed items. They are beautiful, but today they are so prevalent that you would risk getting confused in the crowd rather than looking particularly bad.

  • Instead of buying the same things everyone wears, head to thrift markets and vintage stores, looking for weird, old-looking items to suit your look.
  • A long strip of pearls is ideal for vampire-style clothing.
  • A classic pocket watch is very suitable for a three-piece suit in the style of Bram Stoker's Dracula.

Step 11. Don't forget the other items

If you can afford it, try to use any items you carry with you as an extension of your dark side:

  • Use bone pens, old notebooks that look like the Necronomicon (i.e. they look like they are made of human skin) and bookmarks that look like hanged people.
  • If you have a locker, you can keep the Satanic Bible, Necronomicon, or other occult books in it for people to see when they pass by.
  • You can also decorate your locker with creepy designs and pictures, or hang a voodoo doll inside it or on your backpack.
  • Even an old porcelain doll can be really creepy in your locker and you can even take it with you if you want to be really weird.

Part 2 of 2: Behaving Evil

Look Evil Step 12

Step 1. Perfect your evil expression

You will give the impression that you have bad intentions and may upset those who see you. Again, study the faces of your favorite villains and use them as a reference.

  • You can have a subtle, mischievous expression like Morticia Addams, a smirk like Damon from The Vampire Diaries, or even a crazy toothy smile like Batman's Joker.
  • Look intently at your target while holding the expression to make him uncomfortable. During fights, stare your opponent in the eye with a wicked smile.

Step 2. Exercise your evil gaze

There are many ways to do this, so practice in front of the mirror to choose the one you prefer. You may even alternate gaze with laughter to make it look even more creepy.

  • Squint your eyes and focus on your target. Avoid blinking for as long as possible. You can combat the temptation to do this by squeezing your eyes slightly from time to time.

  • If you talk to some people, make sure you don't blink when looking from person to person and it will make them really uncomfortable.
  • Try changing the way you move your head and eyes. Doing this in separate moments can be creepy. For example, if you are talking to two people, move your eyes to one of them while keeping your head facing the other, then move your head later.
  • Tilting your chin down and looking up from under your eyelids is a great way to get a wicked look.
  • With your mouth you can keep a serious expression, smile slightly or blatantly, or grin. You decide.

Step 3. Work on your evil laugh

Almost all famous villains have an evil laugh. How will yours be? Deep and slow? Fast and ringing? Try signing up to find out which one you prefer.

  • Try different laughter styles. For example, you might laugh out loud for a second or two, then suddenly stop and resume a serious look or evil stare.
  • If you've told a friend about your goal of sounding bad, ask him to tell you what he thinks about your laughter and which one he finds most disturbing.

Step 4. Edit the entry

An evil voice certainly makes you sound more evil. Villains are often famous for their voices. Decide which one you will have based on your character.

  • Are you the silent type? Maybe your evil voice is only slightly slower, deeper, and quieter than your normal one. Or it can be the complete opposite: strong, tall and faster.
  • Maybe you are an outgoing person with a strong, high voice. You may exaggerate those characteristics when you are mean, or you may go in the opposite direction, speaking slowly and in a low tone, just to surprise others.
  • Have fun trying out different voices before deciding which one will be yours.

Step 5. Be mysterious

The fewer people know you, the more they will wonder if you are really bad. Note that if you follow this advice, you will probably be quite alone.

Even if you think you want to be alone and push other people away, consider your reasons for doing so. If you are unhappy, you owe it to yourself to seek help instead of making things worse

Advice

  • Write down your favorite villain characters, then study their looks and behavior. This will give you inspiration and help you look uniquely evil.
  • Ask yourself what you want to achieve by looking bad. Is it for a Halloween joke? Are you trying to push other people away? Do you do it for fun or because you are unhappy? If you are unhappy, ask a close friend or a psychologist for help instead of engaging in unusual behavior.
  • You're probably not bad, but you just want to have a dark and creepy style. Try to incorporate your personal tastes into the makeup, clothing and accessories you choose, so that you can still express your personality even with a darker style.
