Would you like to add the finishing touches to your Halloween costume by putting on false teeth or would you like to build them just for fun? No problem: using very simple materials, in a short time you will be able to show off a beautiful homemade smile. The first method allows you to make a high quality set of false teeth, but if you are short on time and few materials, the second method will show you how to make a simpler set of false teeth.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: Using False Nails
Step 1. Find the materials you need
While it may be necessary to go to a pharmacy or home improvement store to purchase some of these materials, they should be relatively affordable and easy to find. You will need:
- A box of white fake nails;
- A bottle of liquid latex, available in carnival or Halloween costume stores;
- A nail file;
- A nail clipper;
- A tweezers;
- A plastic bag;
- A notebook;
- A brush;
- A jar of powder in poor flesh color;
- A can of white paint;
- A can of red paint.
Step 2. Open the package of white fake nails
Choose one of medium length and with the clipper shorten it just enough to give it the size and shape of a tooth.
Step 3. Shorten the other nails to a set of sixteen "teeth"
Remember that you need to make four teeth larger than the others, which will be used to make two front teeth on the top and two front teeth on the bottom, as well as twelve smaller teeth.
You can also draw the shape of a tooth directly on the nail and then cut it out following the traced outline
Step 4. With a file, smooth the edges of the teeth
If you want your teeth to look smooth and rounded, don't file them too hard or they will look uneven.
Step 5. Wrap the notebook with the plastic bag
If you have a large airtight bag available, simply slide the notebook into the bag and place it on a flat surface.
Step 6. Open the liquid latex bottle
Take the brush and dip the tip into the latex.
Step 7. Make a flat triangular shape on the plastic bag
Use the latex-coated brush to draw a flat triangular shape roughly the size of your mouth.
With the latex make several layers of flat triangular shapes on the plastic bag and then fill the triangle with the liquid latex
Step 8. Using tweezers, add the "teeth" to the latex
Arrange the teeth, one by one, on the long side of the latex triangle to form the top row of teeth.
- It is important to arrange your teeth on the latex before it dries, so try to place them carefully but as quickly as possible.
- If the latex triangle is not long enough for all of your teeth to fit, use the latex-coated brush again to extend the length of the triangle.
Step 9. Make another flat triangular shape on the plastic bag
This triangle will serve for the lower row of teeth. With the tweezers, place the teeth on the latex one at a time, as you have already done for the top row of teeth.
Step 10. Let the latex dry
It will take 15-20 minutes to dry completely. Once dry, the latex may acquire a yellowish tint.
Step 11. Take the jar of flesh-colored loose powder
With a makeup brush, apply the powder to the latex.
It is important to apply the powder on the latex before removing the plastic, so as not to alter the shape of the triangle
Step 12. Mix the white paint and the red paint to paint the gums on the teeth
You need to get a light pink color that matches the color of the gums.
Completely cover the white latex with the varnish, but avoid letting it run on your teeth
Step 13. Let the paint dry, then remove the teeth from the plastic
Your beautiful latex teeth are ready!
Method 2 of 2: Using Plastic Cups
Step 1. Purchase a set of plastic cups
Choose white disposable thin plastic cups that are easy to cut.
Step 2. Draw the shape of the teeth on the glass
Take a permanent marker and draw the desired shape of the teeth on the outside of the plastic cup.
Step 3. Cut out the teeth
Take a sharp pair of scissors and cut out along the lines you drew to make your false teeth.
Step 4. Attach them to your mouth
The best place to attach them is behind the upper lip and in front of the (real) teeth, where they cannot fall out.
- Check your false teeth in front of the mirror to make sure they are the right size and are securely attached to your mouth.
- Should the false teeth begin to come loose, you can use dental floss to bind them back together.
