Throwing the ball quickly is a useful, if not vital, skill in cricket. With just a few passes you should be able to launch it at least 1/3 faster.
Steps
Step 1. Try to stay in the right line when casting at normal speed
To do this, you will have to try to always aim in the same spot, where you want the ball to bounce. If it's hard, try changing the way you throw the ball.
Step 2. Swing your arm well opposite the one he's throwing
The other, the one who throws, will make the same movement at the same speed!
This will make the ball go faster
Step 3. Run at least 1/3 of the throwing range
After you throw, run at least 1/3 of the pitch so the ball doesn't lose speed when you release it.
Step 4. Make sure your last step is well stretched and touches the ground hard
Step 5. Launch every day
You have to do a lot of practice to refine the techniques and to improve.
Advice
- Always remember: you must run before throwing the ball. This will create the momentum needed to make it go fast.
- If you're having trouble aiming, line up your non-throwing arm with the goal posts when it comes down.
- When you work out, bring a video camera or borrow it. This way you can analyze the position of your body from the side and from the front.
- When you swing your non-throwing arm, make sure your body follows the movement.
- Watch videos of professional pitchers and copy them, such as Mitchell Johnson.
