Imagine. You're in a bar fight, and you need to break a bottle to intimidate your attacker. But the furniture is too elegant to smash a bottle over it, so what to do? Break the bottle with your bare hands, of course! At the very least the bad guy will be intimidated. By doing this you might even impress a girl! Or you will simply impress your friends. It is still a nice trick to show off at a party. It will take some practice to learn, but it will impress anyone who sees it. Keep reading!
Steps
Step 1. Fill a beer bottle with cold water
Put it as cold as possible. Bring the water level to 5cm from the neck of the bottle.
Step 2. Hold the bottle firmly
Wrap the index and middle fingers of your non-dominant hand around the neck of the bottle. This will prevent shards of glass from hurting your palm in case the whole bottle shatters.
Step 3. Ready, watch out, "hit"
Hit the neck of the bottle hard with your dominant hand. {Largeimage | Break a Beer Bottle With Your Bare Hands Step 3.jpg}}
Step 4. Did it break?
Check the bottom of the bottle; it should have broken.
Step 5. Learn how it works
The bottom of the bottle breaks due to cavitation. The bottle will move quickly and suddenly down when you hit the neck. The water inside will not move that fast, creating a void on the bottom for a few moments. When the water reaches the bottom, it hits it with such force that it shatters. Even if cavitation creates a small fracture, the inertia and weight of the water will break the bottom of the bottle.
Advice
- Some beer bottles are harder to break than others. The simplest bottles are Becks and Sam Adams. The strongest bottles include the Budweiser and the Corona.
- It will not be necessary to hit the bottle hard, but with speed.
- Don't be afraid when you try this trick. Make sure you can break the bottom properly. If your hand shakes at the moment of the blow, you will not break the bottom and will only hurt your hand.
- Always leave some air inside the bottle to allow cavitation. If you didn't, it would be your brute strength alone that could break the bottle.
- Use plain water to avoid air bubbles. Beer or other drinks with air bubbles will not work. To create cavitation, the liquid inside the bottle should not be carbonated, otherwise it would fill the vacuum too quickly with foam.
Warnings
- Fill the sink with water to catch glass splinters. The water will prevent the splinters from bouncing and hurting someone.
- Do not wear rings on the hand you hold the bottle with!
- You are very careful when cleaning the sink; even the smallest shard of glass can seriously injure you.
- Using a garbage disposal with glass can damage the blades or mechanism. Cover the drain so splinters don't get inside.
- Always remember to clean the sink, otherwise anyone who will use it after you could cut themselves.
- Don't try this trick when you're drunk. You could end up in the hospital.
