Wicker furniture can withstand moisture, but only up to a certain point. Too much water for too long will cause them to lose strands and make them appear limp. In addition, too much humidity could facilitate the birth of various molds. When washing your wicker furniture, remember what we will explain in this article.

Step 1. When washing furniture with a pump, tilt it so that the narrower woven part is higher than the rest of the furniture
In this way, the excess water will fall on the less intertwined part of the piece of furniture, which will be located further down. On this side of the cabinet it will be easier to eliminate it.
Step 2. Keep the shape
It is absolutely mandatory that the weaves and patterns remain the same during the washing process, especially when the furniture is wet. Wicker furniture, once dry, remains the same shape it was when wet, so be careful when modifying the shape in any way. If you pull the threads too much, you will probably create holes in the weave that are clearly visible once the furniture has dried. And if the wires are pulled far beyond their initial position, you will completely deform the piece of furniture - watch out!
Step 3. Let the furniture dry thoroughly before using it again
If you sit on it or place heavy objects on it when it is still wet, you could warp it.
Advice
- Brush your wicker furniture from time to time with a hard, non-abrasive bristle brush, such as a toothbrush, vegetable brush or paintbrush. This way, you will keep your furniture clean and beautiful. The bristles must be hard, but not too hard: they must be able to enter the weave, but at the same time be rigid and not break. Alternatively, use the vacuum cleaner on the cabinet.
- Lemon oil, applied gently with a light cloth, will help protect your finishes and make your furniture shine more.
- Sometimes, it's a good idea to wash your wicker furniture with furniture detergent or a medium detergent. This way you will be better able to remove stains and keep the shine and appearance of the newly bought furniture.
Warnings
- The wicker stools and chairs in the bars are also outdoors and therefore must have a waterproof layer, otherwise they will spoil very quickly.
- Usually, these stools and chairs are very hard - throw a cushion on them to sit on!
