Super smooth, shiny hair never goes out of style. If you want shiny and super smooth hair, it is important to use the right products and drying techniques. See step 1 for instructions on how to achieve this enviable look.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: Prepare the Hair
Step 1. Wash your hair with shampoo and apply conditioner
You will need to start by wetting your hair, so shampoo and conditioner as usual. If you have dry, frizzy hair, be sure to use a nourishing conditioner to protect it from the heat in the styling stages.
- If you have extremely dry hair, you should do a deep nourishing treatment before straightening it.
- Shampoos and conditioners with natural ingredients are less aggressive on the hair. Choose products without sulfates and silicones to keep your hair healthy and not harm it, especially if you want to straighten it later.
Step 2. Rinse your hair with cold water before you get out of the shower
In this way the hair scales close, preventing the hair from becoming frizzy. A final rinse with cold water also makes your hair shinier when you dry it.
Step 3. Wrap your hair in a towel
Don't rub them aggressively; simply blot excess water.
Step 4. Comb your hair
Remove the towel and comb your hair with a detangling (wide-toothed) comb. Do not use the brush, as brushing your hair could break it and damage it.
Step 5. Apply a smoothing serum or spray
Make sure you run it all over your hair, especially the ends. This will protect your hair from breaking and split ends.
Method 2 of 2: Blow Dry Your Hair
Step 1. Dry with a hair dryer and a round brush
Blow-dry one section of your hair at a time. Start at the roots and direct the jet only later towards the tips.
If your hairdryer has a nozzle, use it. The nozzle protects the hair from direct heat and helps to have shinier hair as a final result
Step 2. Smooth one section of the hair at a time using a straightener
Collect the hair you are not working on. Each section of hair to be straightened should only be half as wide as the surface of the straightener.
Step 3. Lightly spray your hair with a hair styling spray specifically for straight hair
This product is designed to keep hair straight for a few days. You can also use regular hairspray.
Do not apply hairspray if you have dry enough hair of yours, as hairspray does not moisturize your hair at all

Advice
- When using hairspray, remember to spray it a long distance (keep your arm outstretched), to avoid getting sticky and / or stiff hair.
- If your hair tends to lose its smoothness even after just an hour, take a bottle of lotion with you. Just rub a little on the tips! I know it sounds weird, but it works wonders!
- Apply a polishing and heat-protecting serum before smoothing. It will help protect your hair and make it shinier.
- Use talcum powder on the roots and brush if your hair feels too greasy.
- Get a good plate, which can reach high temperatures.
- As an option, instead of air-drying your hair, apply a straightening serum specifically for blow drying.
- If your hair is naturally straight, if you go through all these steps you will only make it frizzy! It happened to me!
- A mask with mayonnaise is extremely beneficial, but then wash your hair thoroughly in the shower if you don't want it to stink.
Warnings
- Avoid using too much hairspray; it can also have harmful effects on the hair.
- Avoid using a shampoo that contains silicone. Even if you get a nice immediate effect, over time it damages the hair.
- Avoid continually straightening your hair chemically or with a straightener. If you want hair that stays straight longer, shower less often, every other day for example. Or take a shower without washing your hair.
- Turn off the soleplate when not in use. Unplug it to be safe. If you leave it on it could also catch fire and start a fire. Some models have an automatic shutdown system, but this shouldn't make you let your guard down - you should always be cautious. As it cools, place it on a surface that does not catch fire easily.
