Favorites (also known as bookmarks) are a great tool for keeping track of which web pages you want to visit again in the future. However, given the extreme simplicity of their creation, their proliferation can quickly become unchecked, to the point where a bit of cleaning is required to restore order within the browser. The deletion of favorites that are no longer needed can be done in a few simple clicks, regardless of the browser in use.
Steps
Method 1 of 8: Chrome
Step 1. Right-click any of your favorites, then choose "Delete"
Using Chrome it is possible to remove a favorite at any time, simply by selecting it with the right mouse button and choosing the item "Delete" from the context menu that appeared. This procedure can be applied to the items on the favorites bar, in the "Favorites" section of the Chrome menu or through the "Manage Favorites" tool. To be performed, the cancellation of a favorite does not require any confirmation.
Step 2. Access the "Favorites Manager"
To view all the bookmarks stored in Chrome at the same time, you can use the browser's built-in "Bookmark manager" tool. To access this section, you can use two different methods:
- Press the button to open the Chrome main menu, choose the "Favorites" item, then select the "Manage Favorites" option. A new tab will appear where you can check all your favorites.
- To open the "Bookmark Manager" tool in a new browser tab, press the hotkey combination ⌘ Command + ⇧ Shift + O or Ctrl + ⇧ Shift + O, depending on your operating system.
- To access the "Bookmark manager" page directly from the current browser tab, type the string chrome: // bookmarks in the Chrome address bar.
Step 3. Browse the list of your favorites
All the elements that make up your favorites will be displayed in the "Manage Favorites" tab. You can expand the folders in the list to view the favorites inside.
- If you're signed in to Chrome with your Google account, all synced devices will share the same bookmarks.
- Remember that deleting a favorites folder deletes all the items it contains.
Step 4. Display the favorites bar
This is the bar that appears below the address bar, showing your main favorites. If you wish, you can delete any element present.
- Press the button to access the main Chrome menu, choose the "Favorites" item, then check the "Show favorites bar" option.
- Alternatively, you can use the hotkey combination ⌘ Command + ⇧ Shift + B or Ctrl + ⇧ Shift + B, depending on your operating system.
Method 2 of 8: Internet Explorer
Step 1. Select any of your favorites, then choose the "Delete" option
Even in Internet Explorer the favorites can be deleted from any point in which they appear, simply by selecting them with the right mouse button and choosing the item "Delete" from the context menu that appeared. Favorites can be deleted both from the favorites bar and from the side menu related to their management and organization in folders.
