Back to school is approaching, but the fun isn't over yet! There are so many ways to get the most out of the last few days of the summer vacation. For example, you can indulge in your favorite activities or simple DIY projects. If you prefer, have fun with friends or give yourself some rest and relaxation to prepare your body and mind for returning to class.
Steps
Method 1 of 4: Dedicate Fully to Your Favorite Activities
Step 1. Prepare a buffet full of snacks
It's important to eat healthy throughout the school year and on vacation, but it's not a big deal to let yourself go a little from time to time. Prepare a buffet of your favorite treats, pastries, chips, pretzels, cookies and sugary sodas, then start eating! No one will take your plate away from you, so if you feel full, save the leftovers for the following day.
Step 2. Watch an entire TV series
Thanks to services like Netflix and Disney +, you can watch full series on your phone or computer. On school days, you will only have time to watch one or two episodes before bed, while before the end of the summer you have the option of a full-fledged TV marathon. Here are some of the best TV shows to check out:
- The Boys, The Mandalorian or Stranger Things for the series currently airing;
- Gilmore Girls, Breaking Bad or Buffy the Vampire Slayer for the already finished series.
Step 3. Finish a video game
Each year, the games seem to get longer and longer. It is not easy to complete them during the school year, while in a few days of the summer holidays you should have plenty of time to finish that game you have been thinking about for some time. If you have a week or two, try to finish it by finding all the collectibles and completing all the side missions.
- Open world and time-consuming games such as The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Fallout 4 and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt are perfect for days when you have a lot of free time;
- To increase the difficulty of the challenge, try to get all the achievements the game has to offer.
Step 4. Read the books of your favorite saga
While many of the literary classics you'll need to read for school are outstanding masterpieces, they don't leave you much time for your favorite series. The fun sagas are ideal for enjoying the last few days of vacation and training your mind for the school term that awaits you.
Harry Potter, The Lord of the Rings and The Hunger Games are exceptional and complete sagas that you can read in no time
Method 2 of 4: Indulge yourself
Step 1. Eat at your favorite restaurant
Often, a delicious meal is the perfect remedy for the sadness that comes in late summer. Choose your favorite place and order the dishes you like best. If you leave any leftovers, take them home to enjoy before returning to class.
Step 2. Go shopping to buy new clothes
In some cases, the New Year calls for a change and one of the best ways to make it happen is with a new wardrobe for school. If you have some cash to spend, go to the mall and try on the clothes that are in fashion. On the other hand, if your finances are running out, the shops that sell used items hide many trendy, inexpensive gems that will give you a unique style.
Step 3. Plan a home spa evening. A personal spa treatment is the ideal activity to rejuvenate yourself before returning to school. Prepare a warm bath with candles, soothing music, and a bath bomb. If you like, put on a mud mask or cucumber eye cream as well. Enjoy the atmosphere and let your mind wander in the most pleasant thoughts. Once done, pat dry, then moisturize your body with a shea butter, honey, or coconut lotion.
Step 4. Rest for a day
Rest and relaxation are luxuries that are rarely allowed during the school year, due to the homework and duties that students have. On the contrary, in the summer you have all the time you want. For a whole day, stay on the sofa, relax and sleep. If you like, watch television, listen to music or do whatever you like, without following a specific schedule. You will feel better and be more rested for the return to school.
Method 3 of 4: Hang out with friends
Step 1. Organize a party
A late summer party can anticipate the arrival of the school year in a big way. Invite your friends, preferably at least 5 and no more than 10, order some easy-to-eat food, such as pizza and have fun together. Here are some simple ideas for activities to try at your party:
- A playback singing battle or a karaoke contest;
- A game suitable for a party, such as Cards Against Humanity or Taboo;
- A film that has just been released.
Step 2. Plan a sleepover
For close friends, sleepover parties are ideal occasions to get together and have fun before returning to school. Traditional parties are ideal for activities that require a lot of organization or preparation, while sleepover parties are more suited to simple pastimes. You can play PlayStation or a board game, watch horror classics, wear makeup or just chat.
If you don't have enough beds for everyone, be sure to tell everyone to bring sleeping bags, pillows, and blankets
Step 3. Start an RPG game
It's hard to organize a group of Dungeons and Dragons when you spend all day in school. At the end of the summer, however, you should have enough time to complete a campaign. If your friends live nearby, meet in person. If not, you can try playing using Skype, Facebook Messenger, Discord or another video chat service.
Step 4. Take a short trip together
Getting out of the house is a great way to combat the turmoil that accompanies the last days of summer. Gather your friends and drive to the nearest town, visit a local tourist attraction you've never seen, go to the museum or just go to the cinema. The place does not matter if you will spend quality time together.
Method 4 of 4: Create New Things
Step 1. Plan a day to color the shirts
With some old store-bought sweaters and dye packs you can turn boring clothes into fun garments. Once you have created the dyes following the instructions indicated, color your t-shirts and store them in a grocery bag for 4-6 hours. Once the color has dried, rinse them in cold water, wash them on their own and let them dry.
Step 2. Make a vlog
You just need a smartphone to create a vlog to upload to YouTube or another social network. Sit in a well-lit area, point the camera towards you and press the record button. Some of the more interesting topics you can talk about include:
- Your favorite movies, video games, music artists or books;
- What did you do during the summer, including holidays and trips;
- What do you expect from the upcoming school year (or what scares you).
Step 3. Write a story
Before you start dealing with themes and relationships, let your imagination run wild with a story. Sit down and come up with ideas for the characters and a challenge they need to overcome. Write down your ideas and try to compose a story. Don't worry about grammar and spelling for now, let your creativity run free.
If you can't find any character or story ideas, try writing fan fiction about your favorite movie, TV show, or book
Step 4. Spend time on painting
Painting is a great way to relax and prepare your mind for the school year. Just get some simple watercolors or acrylic paints, some brushes and drawing paper. Paint what's on your mind, follow painting programs like Bob Ross' The Joy of Painting or try to recreate your favorite photo. Remember: these works are just for you, so don't worry about small mistakes.
