The last day of school has finally arrived, but what to do? Perhaps it seems to you that the last hour is no longer coming, yet you can try different fun activities to pass the time while you wait for the bell to ring. Whether you are sad that you will miss your friends or that you are looking forward to summer, it is possible to turn the last day of school into one of the most memorable of the year.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: Have a Pleasant Day
Step 1. Wear light, sporty clothes that you can easily get dirty
Each school has different rules, but in general the last day is likely to be given permission to make water balloons, be outside and spend time with your friends. Put on comfortable shoes, clothes that allow you to move freely and have pockets, so that you can store your pen for signing your diary or yearbook, camera, cell phone or other.
- Remove all unnecessary items from the backpack: in this way it will be lighter and you can put more in it.
- If you think you will get wet, bring a bathing suit. Prevention is better than cure.
Step 2. Talk to class or school representatives to suggest activities that involve the whole school
The last day stimulates teachers and students to give their best, so it is possible to take the opportunity to celebrate the end of the year, organize an event or a match that may be of interest to everyone. Talk to your professors and class or school representatives to propose fun and memorable activities. The possibilities are endless, but with the following you'll always be on the safe side:
- General knowledge quiz teachers vs students, football match, karaoke and so on.
- Classy picnic or ice cream, sale of homemade sweets, etc.
- Screenings of a film in the auditorium.
- Creation of murals or other artistic project.
- A party for all summer birthdays, which cannot be celebrated at school.
Step 3. Pass the diary or yearbook and ask your classmates to sign it
The more people you engage, the more memories you will have. Ask everyone to leave you a little message, even people you don't usually interact with. The sense of community and kindness peaks at the end of the year, so just showing someone you think about them helps create a positive atmosphere. Ask friends and acquaintances to write goodbye messages in your journal - and do the same on theirs.
- If you haven't brought your diary, you can still sign your friends' ones. Also take the opportunity to make a nice gesture and write in the diaries of those people who have not received many messages.
- If you don't have a diary or yearbook but still want signatures, use a notebook, photo collage, or old T-shirt and ask others to write something about it. What matters is having an object that allows you to remember your companions, so it doesn't matter if it's a diary or something else.
Step 4. Take photos
Document the last day of school with your friends and teachers. Ask them how they want to be remembered through a photo and see what ideas they have. You can then use the snapshots to create a PowerPoint presentation or electronic yearbook to share with others.
Step 5. Share your favorite memories of the year
When you spend time with your friends and family, take the opportunity to talk about the most important experiences you have had during the school year. You can tell about how much fun you had, friendships you made, crushes, and more. These conversations are ideal for sleepovers and going out after the day's celebrations.
- You can propose a fun game. Invite your friends to make predictions for each other about what will happen next year. Everyone will write them on a sheet of paper. Then, keep them all in a safe place. At the end of the following year, read them to see which ones came true and which didn't.
- Make a list of the best and worst times of the year. What are your goals for next year?
Step 6. Respect teachers' decisions for the end of the year
Maybe they'll propose a movie or let you play rather than study. In this case, show that you appreciate their gesture by observing the rules and suggestions without complaining - they shouldn't have any reason to reconsider. If they give you work to do, better crack a smile and accept it, on the other hand, the school year is not yet over and students are expected to work hard from start to finish. It will soon be over, and before you know it, you can fully immerse yourself in the summer vacation, so do what you have to do.
Step 7. Talk to your teachers and thank them for their hard work
You may not know it, but they enjoyed your presence and the little memories shared with you. Even if they haven't been very kind, thanking them for the school year is a nice gesture that helps to recognize the difficulties of this job. You will not only brighten their day, but the entire school year.
If you want to give a gift or a note to a particularly good teacher, take advantage of this moment
Step 8. Set up a meeting with your friends after school
The end of the school year is a great time to throw a party. Try throwing a sleepover with your closest friends or a bigger party with food, drinks and games. You can also suggest that others meet you at a restaurant, movie theater, or park for a more informal celebration that everyone can join.
It is a good opportunity to include students who are usually excluded. They may not be your best friends, but getting them involved is a nice gesture. Everyone is happy when school ends, so they are more likely to get along and have fun together
Method 2 of 2: Prepare for Summer
Step 1. If your friends are going away for the summer, ask them to give you all the information you need to contact them
Once you finish school, make sure you know how to get in touch with them. When you don't see each other every day it's easy to get lost, especially if you don't have the ability to track someone down by phone or email. Remember to save the numbers on their mobile or dedicate a small section of a notebook or diary to their email addresses.
Pay special attention to friends who will be relocating. They will be picked up by boxes and suitcases, so if you don't write down the number right away, it will be difficult to keep in touch later
Step 2. Talk to your friends and try to come up with plans for the summer
When school is close to the end of school, share your plans with them and invite them to do something together. You can propose a summer job, activities you can't wait to do or a vacation. Even if you don't eventually get it all done, organizing something will give you more opportunities to see your friends over the course of the summer.
Step 3. Talk to all teachers to find out if they will assign assignments for the summer
They're a hassle, but you shouldn't start doing them until you've rested and recovered from the school year. That said, it is much easier to find out now what you will need to do than to try to get in touch with the teachers during the summer. As a result, quickly write down all the tasks you need to complete. You will be able to feel more comfortable.
If you think you will have difficulty or doubts with some summer assignments, ask a teacher to give you his email and ask him if you can contact him during the holidays
Step 4. Before leaving, put everything in your backpack
Clear the counter and locker (if you have one). Make sure you don't leave anything at school, as it will be difficult to retrieve your belongings during the summer. Generally, anything you forget will be thrown away by the janitors as they clean up, so be prepared to take it all back home.
If necessary, bring a sturdy trash bag, where you can put papers and other materials you need to take home
Step 5. Try to be respectful, kind, and considerate of teachers and classmates
Maybe you think the last day of school is a good time to settle scores with teachers or students you hate. This is almost always a bad idea, especially if you have to see them the following year. Negative behaviors can still get you in trouble even on the last day of school, so keep your worst impulses in check or else you risk being punished.
- Remember that the following year you will see most of these people and all the disagreements that arise on the last day will not disappear over the course of the holidays.
- Even if it's the last year of school, try to behave yourself. Until they graduate, the school will have the knife on the side of the handle. It happens quite rarely, but some students are denied the chance to graduate due to the misconduct shown right at the end of the year.
Advice
- Don't get so overwhelmed with excitement that you forget to finish important tasks you need to turn in by the end of the year. Remember that ballots will be held after the last day of school.
- Don't burn the books: you could resell them.
- Keep a box of memories and look at them once in a while. If you get emotional, don't be afraid to cry to express your emotions. Enjoy every single moment. Say hello to the people you want to remember. The last day of school must remain positively etched in your memory, so don't argue with anyone.
