Breitlings, or Breitling Bentleys, are a type of watch famous for its strength, its aesthetics and its precision in keeping time. While these watches are deemed desirable by many, their high purchase price does not make them affordable for all consumers. As with other luxury goods, the high price of a Breitling watch has resulted in the production of fake copies of the different models of this brand. By learning to recognize a fake Breitling, you can make sure that the item you are looking at or purchased is truly original.
Steps
Step 1. Assess your weight
Both the head and the strap of a Breitling watch are typically made of stainless steel. For this reason the watches of this brand are quite heavy. A fake Breitling may instead have a head or strap that is too light
Step 2. Examine the logo
- The Breitling company engraves its name on the dial of all the watches it produces. Conversely, a fake Breitling may only have the logo on the outer face of the watch.
- If you are planning to purchase such a watch, you may want to bring a magnifying glass with you to examine the dial of the product for the Breitling logo. Some stores that sell this type of watch will spontaneously provide magnifying glasses to interested customers.
Step 3. Check for typos
- There is often a small amount of text on the back of Breitling watches, including the company's address as well as the model and serial number.
- Since Breitling watches are made in Switzerland, spelling words on the watches can be difficult. Consider consulting with someone who speaks good German for advice on evaluating a particular watch. An expert will surely be able to read the text easily and will be able to point out any spelling or punctuation errors, very common in fakes.
Step 4. >> "Breitling watches are made in Switzerland":
if it only says Made in Switzerland it is absolutely a fake!
Step 5. Check the inner dial
-
The inner dial of a Breitling watch shows the current date. It should be below the nine o'clock position. A fake Breitling could indicate the day of the week instead of the current date. Also, the inner dial may be raised above the surface of the watch instead of being at the same height, or it may be positioned incorrectly.
- Breitling typically has its manufacturing mark on the back of the strap rings. In fake watches this mark may be completely absent. In other cases it may have typos instead, or it may be smudged or illegible.
