Vans are not cheap shoes, so when you find a pair at a really attractive price, the temptation to buy them can be strong. If you are suspicious, there are several ways to recognize a pair of fake Vans. If possible, get a pair of originals to make a comparison.
Steps
Part 1 of 4: Check the Shoe Sole
Step 1. Look at the design of the soles
The original Vans have two intertwined design schemes.
Step 2. Find out if the base is slightly sticky
The original ones have a kind of sticky base created to allow better traction when using the skateboard. A pair of genuine Vans don't allow you to slide easily, if you slide on the floor with ease it means it's a fake.
Part 2 of 4: Check for Identification Signs
Step 1. Examine the seam
The original Vans have tight, even seams.
Step 2. Look at the logo
It should be on the rubbery part of the shoe, near the toe (this element can vary according to the type of shoe, especially with regards to boots). Make sure the letters are correct.
Part 3 of 4: Test the Shoes
Step 1. Try bending the tip
The front of the shoe should be flexible. If they are rigid it means they are false.
Step 2. Check the weight of the shoes
The original Vans are heavier than the fake ones because they were built with better quality materials.
Step 3. Check the merchant's trustworthiness by doing an online search
Part 4 of 4: Check the Price
Step 1. The price of Vans is usually over 45 euros
If you have found a pair for sale for 10 euros, it is evidently a fake.
Sometimes this may be an end-of-season sale, while some outlets may find slightly worn designs at a reduced price
Advice
- Search the web for original Vans images. Go to the brand's website and find out if the model you identified is original.
- Just because the box looks original doesn't necessarily mean the shoes are too. Printing cardboard boxes is simple and inexpensive.
