Steps
Method 1 of 4: Cane Sugar Scrub
Step 1. Mix a teaspoon of brown sugar with a few drops of water
You need enough water to slightly moisten the sugar; don't put too much to melt it. The residual molasses from the processing of sugar cane helps to exfoliate the face and give it a bright and healthy appearance.
- Use brown sugar in place of white or powdered sugar if you want the best results.
- If you suffer from acne, add a few drops of tea tree or lavender oil to create your specific exfoliant, as both have antiseptic properties that help get rid of this annoying blemish.
Step 2. Rinse your face
Make sure to remove all traces of make-up and rinse your face with water, then pat dry. Keep the skin a little moist so the exfoliant adheres more easily.
Step 3. Apply the mixture on your face
Rub it with gentle upward circular movements to exfoliate dead skin. Keep scrubbing carefully until the sugar has dissolved. If you wish, you can leave the exfoliant in place for a few minutes so that it also performs the action of a real mask.
Step 4. Rinse off to remove traces of sugar
Use hot water and make sure you also remove it from areas near the eyes and in those hard-to-reach places, so that your face doesn't stay sticky. Pat dry with a towel.
Step 5. Moisturize the skin
Apply a moisturizer all over your face to help the skin recover the right moisture, since it probably dried out a bit with the scrub.
Step 6. Finished
Method 2 of 4: Coconut Oil and Almond Scrub
Step 1. Mix one tablespoon of coconut oil and one teaspoon of ground almonds
This combination is perfect for a scrub that eliminates dead skin, while at the same time acting as an emollient to make the skin smooth and soft. Coconut oil is solid when it is at room temperature, so you should heat it up a bit to be able to mix it more easily with chopped almonds.
- Make sure the almonds are finely ground. Put a handful of almonds in the blender and grind them until they take on the size and consistency of coarse salt.
- Add a few drops of your favorite essential oil to make the exfoliant incredibly fragrant.
Step 2. Rinse your face
Make sure you take off your make-up and rinse your face so that the product is easier to apply.
Step 3. Spread the scrub on your face
Apply it in a circular motion over the entire area you want to exfoliate, focusing on those spots that tend to dry out and flake. You don't need to press too hard, the chopped almonds will do the job for you.
Step 4. Remove the product with a cloth
Wet it with warm water and gently wipe your face to remove the mask until it is completely gone, rinsing the cloth as needed. Wash with water and pat dry.
Step 5. Moisturize your skin as needed
The interesting aspect of this coconut oil-based exfoliant is that it is usually not necessary to further moisturize the face. However, if there are some areas that tend to dry out more easily, dab them with a little more coconut oil and let it soak in to soak into the skin.
Method 3 of 4: Honey and Oatmeal Scrub
Step 1. Mix 1 tablespoon of honey with 1 teaspoon of ground oats
Honey has natural antibacterial properties, which make this scrub an excellent solution if you have acne. You can grind the oatmeal coarsely by giving the blender a few pulses. This exfoliant smells so good you could almost eat it.
- Add a few drops of essential oil to enhance the scrub's properties if desired.
- If the mask is very sticky, add a drop or two of milk, which has moisturizing properties.
Step 2. Rinse your face
Make sure you remove your make-up, then rinse your face to wet it a little and prepare it for applying the scrub.
Step 3. Spread the mixture on your face
Rub it in gentle circular motions. Continue until you have treated your entire face with the product. At this point let it act on the skin for another 10 minutes so that the honey is absorbed and can moisturize the face and make it brighter.
Step 4. Remove the mask
Use warm water to wash your face, taking care to remove any possible traces of the sticky honey. Pat your face dry with a towel to avoid irritating it.
Step 5. Moisturize the skin
Apply your favorite moisturizer to enhance the benefits of the exfoliant and get silky smooth skin.
Method 4 of 4: Olive Oil and Coffee Scrub
Step 1. Mix 1 tablespoon of olive oil and 1 teaspoon of ground coffee
This rejuvenating scrub contains caffeine, which leaves the skin firm, glowing and smooth. It is perfect for treating skin aging or even when you simply want to feel more toned, energetic and radiant skin.
- If you don't have olive oil, you can also use coconut oil or shea butter instead.
- Add some honey if you want to turn this exfoliant into a nourishing mask too.
Step 2. Rinse the skin
Make sure the make-up has been removed, then rinse your face to wet it a little and facilitate the application of the exfoliant.
Step 3. Apply the mixture
Use a circular motion to scrub your face with the mixture, focusing particularly on areas that tend to become dry and dull.
Step 4. Eliminate the exfoliator
Use hot water to completely wipe it off your face, then pat dry with a cloth.
Step 5. Put on a moisturizer
Coffee can dry out the skin a little, so be sure to apply your favorite moisturizer. Eventually you will find yourself soft and smooth skin.
Advice
- Another remedy to make the skin glow and clean it well is lime or lemon juice mixed with baking soda. Make a paste with these products and apply it on your face.
- If your skin is dry and sensitive, try oatmeal or cornmeal.
- Try the St. Ives' apricot energizing scrub. It softens the face and leaves a delicious scent, without forgetting its cleansing effect.
- It is recommended to apply a dissolving face scrub (such as sugar), rather than those with micro granules, because it is better for the skin. The abrasive elements, in fact, can get stuck in the pores.
- If your skin is oily, try adding whole salt, chopped aspirin (excellent for getting rid of acne) or baking soda.
- There are many face scrubs on the market that can be just as effective or even better. Try a few, if the ones described in this article don't work for you.
- Use leftover coffee grounds after your morning cup to make a scrub.
