Violets are evergreen blooms, fertile but with a short lifespan. They are grown as annuals because their first flowering is often the best.
Steps
Step 1. Buy the violets
They are often sold in baskets thus facilitating choices. You can choose from baskets without flowers or baskets with ripe blooms with different violets. If you prefer, sow the seeds as follows.
Step 2. Sow the seeds for the violets
You can sow them in warm areas from mid-summer to late fall. In cold areas, you can sow them in the fall and spring. It is always better to use baskets to sow seeds, with a quality compost. Germination will take place about 21-28 days later.
Step 3. Keep the basket of seeds moist
After watering it, wrap it in clear plastic and shelter it in a warm, lighted place.
Step 4. Plant the seedlings directly in the garden
Violets love sunshine and good drainage, so find a suitable spot in the garden that will make them grow well. If you live in a warm area, shelter them in a place where they are not too exposed to the sun during the hot hours. Alternatively, you can plant them in garden or hanging pots according to your needs.
Step 5. Use fertilizer regularly
Violets love soluble fertilizers. It is a good idea to use fertilizers 2 times a month, especially if the violets are floor lamps in pots.
Step 6. Remove the withered flowers
Use the violet flowers before they wilt. You can pick them when they are still in good condition and put them at home in a table vase.
