Slime is a modeling clay that guarantees a lot of fun. It's disgusting, sticky, slimy and soggy. The most common recipe involves the use of glue and borax, but what if you don't have these ingredients? Fortunately, there are other ways to get it. In some cases, you don't even need to use a single drop of glue! Perhaps the most surprising recipe is the one with shampoo and toothpaste.
Steps
Method 1 of 3: Classic Slime
Step 1. Pour a dab of thick shampoo into a small bowl
Choose a full-bodied one. If it's white or opaque, that's even better. Squeeze the bottle a couple of times or pour about 2 tablespoons into a small bowl.
- If the shampoo is white you can also add a pinch of food coloring.
- Be aware of the smell of the shampoo. The toothpaste will give it a slight minty smell, so something that smells like mint would work better than something fruity.
Step 2. Add a small amount of toothpaste
A matte toothpaste (white or mint) will work best, but you can also try a striped one. Use a quarter as you did with the shampoo - a teaspoon will be enough.
Colgate toothpaste is best suited for your purpose, but you can also choose another brand
Step 3. Mix the two ingredients with a toothpick
As you turn, the shampoo and toothpaste will blend together to form a sticky substance. It will take about a minute.
If you don't have a toothpick, you can use some other small object, such as a cotton swab or a teaspoon
Step 4. Add more shampoo or toothpaste as needed and keep stirring
If the dough is too hard, add more shampoo. If it's too liquid, add more toothpaste. Mix well for another minute or until the mixture is homogeneous in color and texture.
- There is no right or wrong way to make this slime. Almost everything is based simply on your preferences.
- Don't worry if the slime feels a little too sticky at this point. You still need to freeze it, which will help firm it up.
Step 5. Place the slime in the freezer for 10-60 minutes
Check it after 10 minutes. It should look congealed, but not as solid as ice. If it's too soft, leave it for another 50 minutes.
Step 6. Knead it until soft again
Take it out of the freezer. Work it, squeeze it and press it between your fingers until it becomes soft and sticky again.
The slime will not return to the same texture it had before putting it in the freezer
Step 7. Play with the slime
It will be very consistent, almost like putty. You can squeeze it, press it and stretch it. When you're done playing, place it in a small plastic container with a lid. It will eventually dry out, so throw it away when it starts to harden.

Method 2 of 3: Create the Monster Snot
Step 1. Pour some 2 in 1 shampoo into a bowl
It is thicker and stickier than other types of shampoos and, therefore, will be the perfect base for monster snot. Just squeeze the bottle 1 or 2 times.
In the United States, a popular brand for this project is Sauve Kids, but you can try others too
Step 2. Press some toothpaste
Choose a non-transparent one. Use half of it and press it like you did with the shampoo. If you want the dough to be slimmer, pour less.
You can use any brand, but Colgate is preferable
Step 3. Mix the ingredients with a toothpick
You can also use a popsicle stick or a teaspoon. Keep stirring until the shampoo and toothpaste have blended together enough to form a slimy, sticky mixture. It will take about a minute.
Change towards. Stir a couple of times in one direction, then the other
Step 4. Adjust the consistency as needed
If the dough is too loose, add more toothpaste. If it's too sticky, pour more shampoo. After correcting the consistency, remember to mix well for about a minute or so.
Start with a minimal amount of toothpaste, the size of a pea, and a grape-sized amount of shampoo
Step 5. Play with the slime
The monster snot congeals easily. It's disgusting and sticky, just like a monster's snot. When you're done playing, place it in a small plastic jar with the lid tightly closed. Eventually, it will harden. When that happens, throw it out and make a new one.

Method 3 of 3: Making the Slime with Salt
Step 1. Pour some shampoo into a small bowl
Just press the bottle quickly 1 or 2 times. You can use any type of shampoo, but a thick, white color is preferable.
If you are using a white shampoo and want to get a tinted slime, add 1 or 2 drops of food coloring
Step 2. Add some toothpaste
You will need about a third as you did with the shampoo. You can choose one of any type. If it is not transparent, it will do even better, but even in gel it lends itself well to this job.
The quantity is not very important. Remember, you can always add more than a certain ingredient to get the texture you want
Step 3. Mix until everything is combined
You can use a toothpick, a popsicle stick, or a teaspoon. Keep stirring until the color and texture are uniform. Don't worry if it still doesn't look like slime.
Step 4. Add a pinch of salt and mix again
Keep stirring until the shampoo, toothpaste, and salt have formed a paste. It will take about a minute. After that, the mixture may begin to feel slimmer.
Salt is the magical ingredient that turns shampoo and toothpaste into slime. Use plain table salt if you can. Coarse salt doesn't mix very well
Step 5. Make it thicker as you continue to mix
Keep adding some shampoo, toothpaste, and salt as you turn. The dough will be ready when it begins to detach from the inner walls of the bowl.
Making slime isn't an exact science, and a big part of the process is tweaking the ingredients until you get the texture you like best
Step 6. Play with the slime
It is dense and very soft. If you can, try squeezing it, kneading it, and stretching it. When you're done, place it in a small plastic container with a lid. At some point it will dry up. When that happens, throw it out and make another one.

Advice
- The duration of the slime depends on the ingredients it is made of and how often you play with it. Some types of toothpaste and shampoos dry out faster than others.
- Many people get better dough by using Colgate toothpaste and Dove shampoo.
- In the early stages, the toothpaste does not mix well with the toothpaste. Keep stirring until they blend.
- If you use a colored toothpaste, use a white or clear shampoo, otherwise the final appearance may spoil.
- If the toothpaste is white, combine it with a colored shampoo. The slime will take on the shade of the shampoo.
- If you want to make a colored paste, pour a drop of food coloring into the white or clear shampoo, then add a white toothpaste.
- If you want a shimmery slime, try a gel toothpaste; it usually contains some shiny substances. You can also add some very subtle glitter.
- If you haven't been able to get the slime, try switching brands of shampoo and toothpaste.
- Experiment! Replace the shampoo with lotion, liquid soap, or conditioner. Try sugar instead of salt. See what happens!
- Slime is almost always sticky, so don't be afraid if it's too sticky.
- If you think the mixture is too sticky, add 1 tablespoon of cornstarch or flour and mix. Keep pouring this ingredient until you reach the desired consistency.
- If you don't need it much, try measuring the doses with a teaspoon, based on the final amount you want.
- If you make slime using salt, know that it will leave a bad smell. Try adding a hand sanitizer.
- If it's damp, put it in the freezer for at least 10-15 minutes.
- Do not add too much salt, otherwise it could ruin the dough.
- The more you play with the slime, the more it will lose its sticky texture.
