Have you ever wondered what a jar of cold cream is for? The answer is quite surprising: the cold cream makes the skin younger, clearer, and hydrated! This product packs a moisturizer, cleansing lotion, acne treatment and face mask all in one! Cold cream is the predecessor of all modern anti-acne products. In fact, since the year 200 women have used it for skin care! Below you will find several applications of this product that can be very useful to you.
Steps
Step 1. Purchase a cold cream at the pharmacy or make your own
You will find tons of recipes on the internet. Ponds cold cream (the one with the green lid) is the best-selling brand in the United States, but you can find others with different names available in your country.
Step 2. Use the cold cream in the morning to cleanse your face
Wash your hands. With your finger take a knob of product from the jar. Massage your face in an upward motion starting from the chin. Let the cream sit for about a minute or two to dissolve the sebum that clogs the pores.
Step 3. Remove the cream
There are two ways to remove the cream: if the skin is very dry, rub it gently with a soft cloth. The residual cream will give your skin an extra layer of hydration. If your skin is oily or combination, use a warm washcloth to wipe off the cold cream. Rinse your face with warm water to remove any cream residue.
Step 4. Allow your face to air dry or gently pat it dry with a clean towel
Step 5. Once dry, you can decide whether to apply a toner on the face
In the early 20th century, women applied witch hazel, an inexpensive tonic that can be bought at the pharmacy.
Step 6. After the toner, some women also apply a moisturizer
However, some find cold cream to be moisturizing enough that this step is not required.
Step 7. Rub a small amount of cold cream on all dry, red or stained areas
The cream will moisturize these areas and make them smoother and more homogeneous.
Step 8. Rubbing a small amount of cold cream on the spots will help them disappear faster
Step 9. Apply it to blemishes after thoroughly disinfecting them to help them heal faster without forming unsightly crusts
The cold cream will also act as a protective against irritation caused by makeup.
Step 10. Optional:
apply a powder-free and non-comedogenic make-up.
Step 11. Repeat the process in the evening
If you are wearing makeup, use a small amount of cold cream to remove makeup. Use a soft cloth to clean the cream. Then, clean your face as before.
Step 12. Optional:
if your skin is full of blackheads and clogged pores or is very dry, apply a dab of product to your face and leave it on overnight. In the morning, rinse and dry as usual. Make sure you use an old (but clean) pillowcase. In fact, the mask can grease the sheets.
Advice
- Do not apply cold cream on wet face! The cold cream is oil-based, which is why it dissolves the fat in the pores. Oil dissolves oil, but repels water. If the face is wet, the cold cream will not be able to penetrate.
- In the US, Ponds cold cream has a green lid! The one with the blue lid is normal cream.
Warnings
- The cold cream helps to bring the sebum and dirt out of the pores of the skin to the surface. At first you may notice an increase in white secretions from the pores right after washing your face. It is simply the pores that are clearing. If this happens, use a clay mask to help cleanse the skin.
- Most cold creams contain mineral oil. Although mineral oil (baby oil, fragrance-free) is non-comedogenic (does not clog pores), some people are sensitive to this product. If you are too, don't use cold cream.
