Although Barack Obama no longer holds the office of president of the United States, contacting him can still be difficult. Although calling him is not possible, there are two alternative ways to get in touch with the Obamas. The first is to use the contact form offered by the former president's website, which is the Obama family's preferred method. The second is to send a letter to the Washington D. C. offices.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: Use the Contact Form on the Barack Obama website
Step 1. Visit the contact page on Barack Obama's website
The former US president has an official website that offers a dedicated section to send him a message. Log in at the following address:
Step 2. Visit another page if you would like to receive a greeting or good wishes
In case your goal is to receive a greeting from Obama ahead of an event, click on the "Request a greeting" link on the left side of the page. The procedure is basically the same, but you will also need to indicate the recipient's information.
Step 3. Fill out the form
The form requires some personal information, such as name and surname. Include your address and e-mail address to complete the part dedicated to personal data.
Step 4. Write a message in English
At the bottom of the form you will find a box where you can write a message. Fill it in by elaborating everything you want to communicate. Remember to express yourself respectfully. Also, refer to Obama as "President Obama" or "Mr. President", as former presidents are also called this.
- The message can contain up to 2500 characters.
- If you want, you can also send a message to Michelle Obama.
Step 5. Submit the form
Once you have filled it in, reread it to make sure it is correct. Click on the "Get in touch" button at the bottom of the page and wait for a response.
Keep in mind that you will hardly receive a personalized response. You will likely be sent a standard email from the website, although in some cases it is possible to receive a message from a staff member
Method 2 of 2: Write a Paper Letter
Step 1. Write a message or letter
Write down everything you want to communicate. You can use the computer or write a card by hand if you prefer. Remember to address Obama using the title "President Obama" or "Mr. President".
The Obama family prefers to be contacted via the website, but you can still send a letter by post. However, if you are going to request a greeting, it is best to do so using the site
Step 2. Write the address on the envelope
Put the letter in an envelope, then write the return address in the top left. Write Obama's address on the right, starting roughly halfway between the top and bottom of the envelope.
-
The address of the Obamas is as follows:
Office of Barack and Michelle Obama
BIT. Box 91000
Washington, DC 20066.
Step 3. Post the envelope and send the letter
The stamps to use vary depending on the envelope. For example, a standard-sized note or letter requires fewer stamps than a larger or irregularly sized envelope (such as a square). Consult a post office employee to find out how to post it. The stamps are attached at the top right. Post the letter.
Step 4. Wait for an answer
Although it is difficult to receive a personal letter, it is possible that the office will send a standard response. Anyway, keep in mind that the Obamas receive thousands of letters a day, so it can happen that you don't get any answers.
