Steps
Method 1 of 2: Moisten the Tear
Step 1. Start by folding the paper to create a crease where you want to cut
This technique can be used, for example, to eliminate the outline of an image or to divide a sheet in half. To be able to make a precise cut, the sheet must be folded well, first on one side and then on the other.
Step 2. Moisten the fold of the paper
You can do this in two ways: by wetting the paper lightly with water, or with a little saliva. Remember to perform this step for both sides of the paper.
Step 3. Carefully tear off the sheet to separate the two parts
You can delete the part you don't care about.
Method 2 of 2: Ruler Tear
Step 1. Again, fold the paper to create a line that will indicate where to cut
Step 2. Take a ruler and place it on the paper, so that it is aligned with the line to be cut
Step 3. Holding the ruler firmly against the paper, tear off the paper
Slowly pull the card along the line, making sure you follow the line accurately.
Cut until you reach the edge
Step 4. Also remove the leftover card you don't need
Step 5. Finished
Advice
- If you can't tear the paper precisely, use a ruler to follow the line to be cut.
- To fold the paper well, use something stiff, such as a ruler, to pass over the fold: press firmly, but be careful not to tear the paper. You can also use a pencil or a finger, pressing with the part of the fingertip that is next to the nail.
- Be careful to use water, you could moisten the sheet too much, ruining it.
- If you have a ruler available, you can use it to cut the paper: once folded, put the ruler inside it and use it to cut the paper. The sharper the ruler, the sharper the cut will be. It just takes a little practice.
