Learning a foreign language requires dedication and courage. You should aim to use what you learn daily in conversation and writing to enhance your language skills. Use these tips to learn Spanish quickly.
Steps
Part 1 of 4: Build Your Own Method
Step 1. Think about the method to follow
Which works best for you?
- If your learning is based on a visual style, you shouldn't choose lessons based on verbal conversation, like the ones you find via podcasts. Instead, focus on educational postcards, movies with subtitles, and lessons that use visual aids.
- If your learning is based on an auditory style, listen to music and songs, download lessons via podcasts and listen to audiobooks. Use the free audiovisual aids available on the internet to enhance your learning.
- If your learning is based on a kinesthetic style, you will need to look for learning methods in which some form of interaction is involved. Look for a course where you can interact with teachers and other students, or order a program you can play with, or look for opportunities to converse in Spanish. While the latter method is undoubtedly great for anyone who wants to learn Spanish, it will be especially important for you.
Step 2. Try to take advantage of travel
Another way to tailor your lessons is to use all the time you spend in the car or traveling on public transport to study the language. Download podcasts, audio books, or Spanish lessons that you can listen to on the go.
Part 2 of 4: Establish a Budget for a Course
Step 1. Determine how much you can spend to purchase Spanish lessons or educational software
By using different methods to suit your learning style, you will learn the language faster.
- If you think you want to spend at least a few hundred euros, sign up for full immersion courses, where the lessons are taught directly in Spanish. They are often organized by universities. If possible, choose a crash course. You can also order language courses from Rosetta Stone and set aside time each evening for lessons to follow on your computer.
- If you have planned to spend less than € 100, you can sign up for some courses in learning centers that organize less intensive classes. In many cities there are organizations that offer language courses for € 50 or less. You can also find cheaper computer programs by searching the internet or on Amazon.co.uk.
- If, on the other hand, you want to learn Spanish quickly without spending a cent, it is still possible, but you have to work hard to find suitable solutions. If available, look for courses organized by local bodies and institutions, such as libraries, provinces or others. Contributions for teaching materials may be required. You can also download free podcasts, subscribe to newsletters and use YouTube videos.
Part 3 of 4: Spanish Learning Tools
Step 1. Purchase a Spanish dictionary and phrasebook
They will serve you as a reference point for courses, software and podcasts.
Step 2. Create educational postcards
They are extraordinarily useful tools for starting to develop a good vocabulary. Review postcards every day and always add new ones.
You can search and download educational postcards on the internet
Step 3. Take a lesson every day
Learning Spanish takes time and effort. The more time you spend studying, the faster you will learn.
Step 4. Change the language settings of the applications and devices you use daily, choosing Spanish
You can learn both many technical terms and common expressions by applying this simple trick.
Step 5. Watch films in Spanish
If you are watching a movie in Italian, put the subtitles in Spanish.
Step 6. Read books in Spanish
Start with children's books and gradually increase the difficulty level. Try reading your favorite books in Spanish.
Step 7. Listen to music and podcasts in Spanish
Step 8. Memorize poems or songs
Download the latest hits in Spanish to your iPod and listen to them in the gym, as you travel by car or public transport.
Part 4 of 4: Conversations in Spanish
Step 1. Look for Spanish conversation groups that gather in your area
Get over the shame and start speaking Spanish with others as soon as you can. This is the quickest way to learn Spanish.
If you can't find a Spanish conversation group, visit meetup.com/find/ and look for one in your area
Step 2. Find a partner to study the language with
Look for a native Spanish speaker who wants to improve their Italian. Agree on conversations of Spanish and Italian, which will benefit each other.
If you can't find someone who lives in your area, find someone to chat with you on Skype. Go to language-exchanges.org/ to look for a mate
Step 3. Visit a country where Spanish is spoken
Nothing is more motivating than a trip to a place where you will be forced to speak the language. Try to speak only Spanish while traveling.
