Sims 2 is an awesome game. Read on for detailed instructions on how to download content or characters to enhance your experience!
Steps
Step 1. Find a website that offers the ability to download Sim, and find one you like
Step 2. Click on the object link
A dialog box will appear asking you whether to Open, Save or Delete the file. Press Save and choose desktop as path.
Step 3. Right click on the object on the desktop and then click on "Properties"
In the window, you should find information about the file format. It should be.rar or.zip. These are compressed versions of the real file, to reduce its size and make it easier to download.
Step 4. Extract (or unzip) the file
-
If you don't have a program that can do this, you'll need to download one. WinRar or 7Zip are good solutions for Windows or try Stuffit if you have a Mac.
-
Right click on the file to extract it.
Step 5. Put the extracted files into the Downloads folder
-
If you have Windows XP, your Downloads folder has this path: Documents (Current User Account) Documents / EA Games / The Sims 2 / Downloads
-
If you have a Mac, the Downloads folder has this path: Users (Current User Account) Documents / EA Games / The Sims 2 / Downloads
-
If you have Windows Vista, your Downloads folder has this path: Users (Current User Accounts) Documents / EA Games / The Sims 2 / Downloads
-
If the Downloads folder is not where it should be, create it yourself. Remember, it will have to start with a capital D and end with s.
Step 6. Check the format of the file you downloaded:
it should be Sims2Pack. Just double click on it to install it within the game.
Step 7. When you go to the Create a Sim page, your new Sim will appear under the Saved Sims icon
Advice
- Make sure you have selected the correct age and gender before looking for your Sim on the Saved Sims page.
- Check and make sure you have the necessary expansions for the download. If you don't have them all, some of the content may not be available.
- If the file is. PACKAGE, it is not a complete Sim, but only a part.
- If your Sim has custom hair or clothing, make sure it's not a new 3D model. If the model is not included, you will usually find a link to download it. You will need to have the model for the object to be visible in the game.
- If you plan to download a lot of items, you might want to sort the Downloads folder into multiple sub-folders. Create new folders for each new object and its different colors and then organize them in more generic folders such as "Floors" or "Hair".
- If you find that you don't want to use all of a Sim's parts in your game (for example, because you only like hair or makeup), you might want to get the Sims2Pack Clean Installer. This program allows you to choose which elements to install.
- If the compressed file contains files of type.jpg,-g.webp" />
- If Sims 2 custom files take up a lot of space on your computer, try using Sims2Pack Clean Installer to find and delete duplicate files. You will be surprised how many you will find.
- If there are.txt files in the compressed file, it is often the creator's advice on how the download can be used. You can delete them if you want, but it can be useful to keep them.
- When you download clothes, items, and hair, Delphy's Download Organizer could help you understand why items don't appear in your game by finding those without patterns or patterns without other colorings.
