This article explains how to install Windows Movie Maker on a computer running Windows 10. Although Microsoft's official support for Windows Movie Maker and other programs bundled with Windows Essentials ceased in 2012, you can still download and install Windows Movie Maker on a Windows computer.
Steps
Step 1. Download the Windows Live Essentials package installation file
Visit this website to be able to download the indicated installation file.
This is a simple download page that is largely empty. The download of the Windows Essentials installation file will take anywhere from a few seconds to a minute to complete
Step 2. Launch the installation file
Double-click the file wlsetup-all.exe that you will find in the default folder on your computer where the files you download from the web are stored.
Step 3. Click the Yes button when prompted
The Windows Essentials installation wizard window will appear.
Step 4. Click on the Install all of Windows Essentials (recommended) option
It is located at the top of the window. Most of the programs in the Windows Essentials package are not compatible with Windows 10, but Windows Movie Maker is, so you can install it by selecting the option indicated.
Step 5. Click the Show Details button
It is located in the lower left corner of the window. A progress bar and a percentage will be displayed, along with detailed information about the actions the installer is performing.
Step 6. Wait for Windows Movie Maker to be installed on your computer
Most likely the first program that will be installed on your PC will be Windows Movie Maker. Wait for the installation to complete. When the name of the program being installed changes (for example "Mail" will be displayed), then you can continue.
Step 7. Access the "Start" menu by clicking on the icon
It features the Windows logo and is located in the lower left corner of the desktop.

Step 9. Click the Windows Movie Maker icon

When a pop-up window appears regarding an installation process error message, simply click the button Close and confirm your action when prompted. Now you can start using Windows Movie Maker.
Warnings
- As Windows 10 continues to evolve and update over time, Windows Movie Maker may no longer function properly due to compatibility issues. To avoid losing your job, remember to regularly save any progress you have made.
- Windows Movie Maker is no longer officially supported by Microsoft, this means that any security issues and bugs will not be fixed. To work around this problem, you can consider using Windows Story Remix.
