Skyrim is the fifth installment in the Elder Scrolls series. In Skyrim, you play as Dragonborn, the hero of a prophecy, who must save the world from the destruction brought by dragons. Skyrim was one of the largest and most complex game worlds ever released, and finishing the game can be very difficult. If you are the kind of person who doesn't have time to complete all the missions in the game, or you don't want to work too hard, you can always decide to use cheats. How to do this depends on the platform you are playing on.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: For those who play Skyrim on PC
Step 1. Use the tricks from the console
Press the ~ key on the keyboard when you are playing, the button to the left of the numeric ones.
A small black window will open, covering the top half of the screen. This is the console. Here you can type the cheat codes
Step 2. Enter the codes you want
On the internet you will find many codes, for example to add items to the inventory or to make your character immortal. Here are some of the codes you can use:
- tgm-This code makes your character invulnerable.
- unlock-This trick instantly unlocks doors and chests without having to use a lockpick.
- psb-Your character will instantly learn all available spells.
- player.advlevel-Your character will immediately level up.
- showracemenu-This trick allows you to change the race and appearance of your main character.
- player.additem ITEM ### - This trick adds a specific item, in the desired quantity, to your backpack. Replace ITEM with the item code, and ### with the quantity. You can find item codes from Skyrim sites like
- tfc-This allows you to change the camera's point of view, and see Skyrim from above, as if you were flying.
- player.setlevel ## - This trick acts like player.advlevel, but allows you to set your current level to the desired number. Replace ## with the level you want.
- kill-This trick allows you to kill any non-player characters.
- killall-This trick kills all non-player characters in the area.
- resurrect-This trick allows you to resurrect any non-player characters who have been killed.
- player.modav carryweight-This trick allows you to increase your character's maximum carrying capacity.
- sexchange-This trick allows you to change the gender of your character after creating it.
- There are many other cheats available on the net, and players keep creating more. You will find many internet sites, such as www.pcgamer.com, sharing the new tricks.
Step 3. Download Skyrim mods
Mods are game modification programs created by users, not Bethesda. These mods basically add features not present in the game itself, such as special types of hairstyles, armor, weapons, and more. On the internet you will find many mods to download; just do an online search.
Step 4. You can search for specific mods on www
nexusmods.com/skyrim/.
- Once you have downloaded a mod, install it and it will be automatically enabled in the game.
- Note that the installation methods vary from mod to mod; most mods have an installation manual, so getting them to work won't be very complicated.
Method 2 of 2: For those who play Skyrim on Console
Step 1. Use glitches
Skyrim is also available for PS3 and Xbox 360, but unlike the PC version, there is no console where you can insert the tricks. Instead, there are glitches and secrets that you can use and abuse. These glitches are minor errors in game development that were included in the final version. Here are some of the more popular glitches:
- Armor Level Up - This glitch allows you to easily level up your armor. Set the game difficulty to Novice and find a weak enemy in the world. Let it attack you while you heal. The damage you will receive will be less than your healing capacity. This trick helps you to increase your Armor and Restoration level without dying.
- Quick Speaking Level Up - This trick allows you to quickly level up Speak. Travel to Riften and look for a male Dark Elf named Ungrien in the town. Once found, talk to him and choose "Tell me about Maven Black-Briar" and persuade him (X button on PS3 and A button on Xbox 360). After the first persuasion, the Persuade option will still be available, and you can continue to use it to level up the Speaking skill quickly.
- Unlimited Arrows - Look for any character who shoots arrows at the training dummies. You will often find them within cities. Use Empty Pockets (crouch behind the character and press the interaction button suggested on the screen) on that character, take all the arrows in his inventory, and replace them with any amount of the type of arrows you want. The character will continue to shoot arrows, but this time it will be the arrows that you have placed in his inventory. Approach the mannequin and collect the arrows.
Step 2. Search the internet for more glitches and secrets
Just like with cheats, you will find dozens of glitches on the internet, and new ones are discovered from time to time. Visit sites like www.pcgamer.com to stay up to date on the latest glitches available for your console.

- You can use glitches in the console version without risking corrupting the save.
- Using the cheats for the PC version of Skyrim you can corrupt your save.
