The fifth colossus is Avion, a large bird-like colossus, and is the first flying colossus you will have to fight against. Climbing this colossus is a hassle, and as if that weren't enough, if you're not careful while climbing its body, you'll fall and be forced to do it all over again.
Steps
Part 1 of 2: Finding the Fifth Colossus
Step 1. Exit the sanctuary and call Agro with X
When she's close to you, get on her back by pressing ∆.
Step 2. Pull out the pada with O and go left
The light beams should center east of the sanctuary.
Step 3. Ride to the area where the light beams are centered
You will notice that there is a ravine and a small road to the side (near the place you entered from to reach the fourth colossus).
Step 4. Go through the small road next to the ravine
Keep going on the winding road, until you see another road in the mountains. Enter and walk through this street until you see some ruins.
Step 5. Get off Agro and jump into the water
Step 6. Swim towards the collapsed wall
- Press R1 to dive underwater and ride it.
- Go to the wall and climb it by pressing ∆.
- Press R1 to grab the edge.
Step 7. Go forward and go up the first flight of stairs
A cutscene will play showing you the fifth colossus.
Step 8. Go through the small opening in the gate surrounding the area you are standing on
Step 9. Swim forward until you see a small group of square stones
Step 10. Draw your bow and shoot an arrow at the colossus
This will make Avion fly high in the sky. Get ready to fight!
Part 2 of 2: Defeat the Fifth Colossus
Step 1. Stand still on the stone you are standing on
Avion will try to swoop down on you. You will immediately notice that there is a part of the fur on each side of its wings that you can climb on.
Step 2. Wait for it to approach you and jump on one of its wings
Hold on to the fur.
- It might sound easy, but the right timing is horrendously difficult to achieve, and you'll likely end up in the water more than half a dozen times, but keep trying until you have the right timing.
- Another thing that makes this difficult is, if you waste your time, there is a chance that Avion will hit you doing a lot of damage, so be careful!
Step 3. Climb your way up Avion's body
It will rebel by flying hysterically around. Once it calms down, run up its back and grab onto its tail.
Step 4. Load up your sword and stab Avion's first weak spot until it vanishes
Be careful not to fall while doing this, and keep an eye on your stamina.
Step 5. Climb back to Avion's head after removing the first weak point
Grab its fur near the wings, and make your way to the right wing; the second weak point will be there.
Be very careful as you move from the body to the wings as Avion will fly violently, leaving you only a short time to get there
Step 6. Stab the sweet spot with a fully charged blow
Do it just once! The weak point will disappear immediately, and stabbing it after its disappearance will drive Avion crazy.
Step 7. Switch from the right wing to the left
The last weak point will appear on the left wing. Repeat what you did on the right wing.
Rest on Avion's back first, rather than going straight to the left wing, just in case things go wrong
Step 8. Stab the last weak point
Avion will fall and die.
Advice
- Take small breaks in switching between wings, just make sure you have enough stamina if Avion decides to go crazy.
- When you step from Avion's back to its tail, rather than using the fur, run! You'll keep your stamina and get there even faster.
- If you are having difficulty climbing Avion's body wait until he gets close, then jump and press R1.
