Forge Mod Loader (in slang "FML") is a program that allows you to install Minecraft mods customized by users. After installing Forge Mod Loader, you can download all the mod files you want and integrate them into Minecraft automatically using the program.
Steps
Part 1 of 2: Install FML
Step 1. Visit the Minecraft Forge download section at
Step 2. Click on the installation file recommended in the download section
You will be redirected to an advertising page. You will have to wait about five seconds before you can download the file.
Step 3. Click on the "Skip" link visible in the upper right corner of the page
A dialog box will appear allowing you to download the FML JAR file.
Step 4. Select the option that allows you to save the JAR file to your computer desktop, then close the page
Step 5. Double-click the JAR file to launch the installation wizard
- If Windows does not correctly recognize the file or fails to open it, click on the JAR file icon with the right mouse button, select "Open with" from the menu that appears, then click on the "Java" option.
- If you are using a Linux system, right click on the JAR file, then choose the "Properties" option. Click the "Allow file to run as a program" checkbox, then close the "Properties" window. At this point, click on a point in the "Download" folder with the right mouse button, select the "Open Terminal" option and type the command "java -jar".
Step 6. Click on the "Install client" option present in the Minecraft Forge installation wizard window, then click on the "OK" button
Step 7. Click on the "Next" button, then follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation
At the end of this step, you will see the message "Successfully installed Forge build xxxxx" appear on the screen. At this point, a new profile called "Forge" should be visible within the Minecraft launcher.
Step 8. Copy the Minecraft mod file you want to install to paste it into the Minecraft folder - this folder may change depending on your operating system
- Windows: C: / Programs / minecraft / mods;
- Mac: C: / Library / Application / minecraft / mods;
- Linux: C: / Library / Application Data / minecraft / mods.
Step 9. Select the "Forge" option from the Minecraft launcher drop-down menu, then choose the item to launch the game
Minecraft Forge will automatically integrate the mod of your choice into the Minecraft game world.
Part 2 of 2: Troubleshooting For Forge Mod Loader Installation
Step 1. Try updating the version of Minecraft installed on your computer if the FML installation fails
If you are using an older version of the game, you may run into problems installing the recommended version of FML.
Step 2. Contact the developer who created the mod in order to get specific instructions to have FML automatically integrate mods into Minecraft
In some cases, in order to use a certain mod, you may need to install a version of FML other than the one indicated that you can download from the URL
Step 3. If the mod you selected doesn't integrate properly into Minecraft, try using another mod or changing the FML configuration
In some cases, the cause of the problem could be a malfunctioning or outdated mod.
