Does playing single player sometimes bore you so much that you would even be willing to take on some responsibilities within the game? Know that there are pets in Minecraft that just ask to be looked after and to keep you company!
Steps
Step 1. Find lots of fish by fishing or killing lots of skeletons
You will need it later in the game. If you want to tame 2 wolves, you will need to get 18 bones. If you prefer a cat, you will need 15 fish.
Step 2. Find a wolf or an ocelot
To avoid getting lost, build several houses along the way.
Step 3. When you find a wolf, right click on the animal
Right-click on the wolf until a red collar and a cloud of hearts appear. Right-click again to make him stand upright. When you find an ocelot, approach slowly. Even if you proceed at normal speed, he will flee away from you, so slowly approach him by showing him a fish. If it gets close, stop and don't move. Right click on the ocelot. After feeding it with a certain number of fish the animal will change color and become either orange with stripes on the coat, or black tuxedo style or the typical color of a Siamese. The same range of patterns and colors also applies to cats.
Step 4. It will now become your pet
You can also breed other types of animals. Feed 2 dogs any kind of meat or rotten meat and you'll get a puppy. Meat can also be raw, it won't hurt your dogs. Or feed the cats a fish and they will reproduce by giving birth to a kitten. There is no need to feed them on a daily basis.
Step 5. Click on the animals with the right button to make them assume a standing or sitting position
Advice
- Your pets can teleport and reach you; this makes them extremely useful in case you encounter a danger.
- Ocelots and cats are feared by creepers; this makes them excellent guards against this particular type of animal.
- Dogs will defend you at all costs; use their loyalty to have a bodyguard.
- Dogs will attack and chase anything that hits you and that you hit with melee attacks yourself. This will reduce your chances of being killed.
- To catch an ocelot, wait for it to come near you. When he is close enough, feed him fish. Be careful, sudden movements will scare him and make him flee.
- If you don't want your pets to get hurt, leave them indoors. *
- If you want to turn a tame wolf into a dog, use the Doggy Talents mod, the red collar will indicate that the wolf is tame.

If you wish to have a pet in Minecraft, you will need to find the pet you are looking for. You can only choose between a sheep, a cat, a wolf, a cow or a chicken. If you already have any of these animals, apart from the wolf or the cat, you will need to put them on a leash. Each animal can be tamed with the following foods:
- Sheep - wheat
- Pork - carrot
- Cow - wheat
- Chicken - wheat seeds
- Cat - raw fish
- Wolf - bone.
Warnings
- Your little animals could die; use potions to heal them from ailments.
- Cats will repel creepers from a distance; that, however, will not prevent them from following you.
- Dogs are smart enough not to attack creepers.
- If you seat your pets, they will not be able to teleport and join you.
