This article explains how to redeem a video game or gift card code on Xbox One.
Steps
Method 1 of 3: Use the Xbox Live website
Step 1. Visit the Xbox Live website webpage where you can redeem codes
If you are already signed in with your Xbox Live account, you will see the text field where you can enter the code to redeem.
If you have not yet logged into Xbox Live, you will need to enter your email address, phone number or Skype profile name, click the button Come on, type the password and finally click on the button Log in.
Step 2. Enter the code to redeem in the text field visible on the page
It is located in the upper left part of the appeared web page.
Make sure you enter the code correctly and in full, otherwise it will not be redeemed
Step 3. Click the Next button
It is located below the text field on the right. If the code you entered is valid, it will be redeemed and associated with your Xbox Live account for downloading the content.
Method 2 of 3: Using the Xbox One
Step 1. Turn on the Xbox One
Press the "Xbox" button located on the right side of the front of the console.
Alternatively, you can hold down the "Xbox" button on the controller you paired with the Xbox One. It is located in the center of the top of the controller and features the Xbox logo
Step 2. Scroll through the dashboard tabs to be able to select the "Store" option and press the A key
It is displayed at the top right of the Xbox One main menu.
Step 3. Select the Use code option and press the A key
The voice Use code is the third option that can be selected, starting from the top, visible in the "Store" tab.
Step 4. Press the A key on the controller to display the virtual keyboard on the screen
A white text field should be visible on the page. Press the button TO to bring up the text field "Redeem your code or gift certificate" in which you will have to enter the code to redeem.
If you want to scan a QR code, press the button B. of the controller, then place the QR code to be scanned in front of the camera of the Kinect connected to the Xbox One. In this case the Kinect must be turned on.
Step 5. Enter the code to redeem
It is a 25-character alphanumeric code.
Step 6. Press the ☰ button on the controller
It is located in the middle right of the Xbox One controller. The code you entered in the text field will be processed.
Step 7. Select the Redeem option and press the A button
The code you entered will be sent to Microsoft's servers for processing. If the code is valid, the associated content will automatically be paired with your Xbox Live account.
Method 3 of 3: Using the Xbox App
Step 1. Launch the Xbox app
It features a green icon with a white "X" in the center. If you haven't installed it yet, you will need to do it now by going to the App Store (on iPhone) or the Google Play Store (on Android).
Step 2. Press the Login button
It is located at the bottom of the screen.
Step 3. Enter the email address associated with your Xbox Live account
Type it in the text field visible under the word "Login".
Step 4. Press the Next button
It is located below the field where you entered your email address.
Step 5. Enter the security password
Step 6. Press the Login button
It is located below the text field where you typed the password.
Step 7. Press the ☰ button
It is located in the upper left corner of the screen.
Step 8. Select the Store option
It is listed in the center of the pop-up menu that appeared.
Step 9. Choose Redeem Code
It should appear at the top of the page, under the "Search" section.
Step 10. Enter the 25-character alphanumeric code
Step 11. Press the Next button
It is located in the lower right corner of the screen. The code entered will be matched to your Xbox Live account. The next time you turn on the Xbox One, you should have confirmation that the code has been redeemed and the associated action should be performed automatically.
