Not sure how to remove a location from your Facebook Timeline Places? With all the new features available on your homepage, it may seem impossible to find the solution. As you'll find out in this article though, it's pretty simple.

Note: Places are a feature of the Facebook website. You can find it in your Journal, and it's the area that visually represents the location of events you've attended, photographs, and where you've traveled on a Bing world map.

Step 1. Go to the Places application on your Facebook Journal

You can find it on the right of the screen, under the cover photo, next to other applications such as friends, photos and possible notes or likes, and it is easily recognizable by its graphics. In some cases, the Places application may be hidden from view; to reveal it, simply press the arrow to the right of the applications.

Step 2. Find the location you want to remove in Places

You chose the wrong option when entering your travel destination. Or you don't want that location to appear on your Places. After opening the Places, use the hand tool to move around the map until you have found the location (represented by the dark inverted shower symbol). If it's in an area you frequent often, you may need to click on that area or zoom in using the map controls.

Step 4. Click on the date

As you will notice, there is no option to remove the position in the window. Instead you will need to remove the location from your Journal. You can manually find the post where you entered the position in your Journal, although the simplest method is to click on the date you found in the pop-up window, which will take you directly to the day you entered the position.

  • If the location has been entered with a photo, click on the photo or find it in the photo albums and select the option to change the location or delete it. In this a lot you will also modify the Places in your Diary.
  • For work / school locations on your Places, you will need to edit the Information section of your Journal and manually edit or remove that entry. This will also change the Places on your Journal.

This will remove the post from your Timeline and thus you will have removed the location from the Places as well, and the marker will be removed.

Advice

If you have forgotten the marker position you want to remove, try narrowing your search by using the years parameter on the right side of the screen or by filtering the type of positions shown by the categories at the bottom of the screen. For example, if you choose "2001" on the right and "Photos" from the categories below, you will only see locations relative to photos from 2001

Warnings

  • With new updates being included on the Facebook site, be careful, as the features added today may not be there tomorrow.
  • Remember to always pay attention to your privacy settings, even on Places. You don't know who might see your position if you make it public.
