This article explains how to access the Outlook Archive folder. You can do this from the Outlook.com sidebar and the Windows Mail app. On the Outlook app, you will need to import the Outlook email file.
Steps
Method 1 of 4: Go to the Archive Folder on the Outlook website
Step 1. Go to this URL with a web browser
You can use the program of your choice, on a PC or Mac.
Step 2. Log into your Outlook account
Use the email address and password associated with your Outlook.com profile.
If you don't have an Outlook account, you can create one for free by clicking on "Create one" under the login field
Step 3. Click Archive
You will see this button in the left sidebar of your Outlook mailbox.
To archive an email in your inbox, right click on a message, then select "Archive" from the menu that appears
Method 2 of 4: Access the Archive Folder in Windows Mail
Step 1. Open Mail
This app has the icon that looks like an envelope and is located on the right side of the Windows taskbar.
Step 2. Click the All Folders icon
It looks like a folder and is located in the left sidebar.
Step 3. Click Archive
This will access archived emails.
To archive an email in the Windows Mail app, right click on the message, then click "Archive"
Method 3 of 4: Access the Archive Folder on the Outlook App
Step 1. Open Outlook
This app has the blue icon with an "O" above an envelope.
If you don't see the Outlook app icon on your desktop, click the Windows Start button, then type Outlook. This way the app will appear in the Start menu
Step 2. Click View
You will find this item in the menu bar at the top of the screen.
On Mac, skip this step
Step 3. Click the Folders Window icon
It looks like blue text in a sidebar. Press it and a menu will open.
On Mac, click the envelope icon in the lower left corner
Step 4. Click Normal
The Folders Window will open in the left sidebar.
On Mac, skip this step
Step 5. Click
next to your email profile.
Click the small triangle to the left of your account name to expand all email folders and categories associated with it.
Step 6. Click Archive
Click the Archive folder in the left column, so that all archived emails are displayed in the right window.
You can search for archived emails using the top bar. Use the drop-down menu next to the search bar to select "Archive Folder"
Method 4 of 4: Import the Archived Email File to the Outlook App
Step 1. Open Outlook
The app icon is blue with an "O" above an envelope.
If you don't see the Outlook icon on your desktop, click the Windows Start button and type Outlook. The app will appear in the Start menu
Step 2. Click File
You will see this item in the top menu bar in the left corner. Press it and a menu will open.
Step 3. Click Open & Export
This is the second option on the File menu.
On Mac, click It matters from the drop-down menu.
Step 4. Click Open Outlook Data File
A dialog box will open.
On Mac, select the type of archive file you want to import, then click Continues.
Step 5. Select the Outlook archive data file
These files are saved in Outlook data format, which has the extension ".pst". By default, you can find them in the C: / Users / username / Documents / Outlook Files folder; just replace "username" with your Windows profile name.
Step 6. Click OK
You will see this button in the lower right corner of the Open Outlook Data File dialog box.
On Mac, click It matters.
Step 7. Click Archive
Now you can browse the archived folders in the "Archive" section.
