This article explains how to host another Twitch user's channel on your personal channel. Host mode allows your audience to watch other streamers' content without leaving your chat. This is a great way to promote your favorite creators and share them with your community, which will stick together even when you're not online.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: Use Host Mode on Desktop
Step 1. Open the Twitch page with a browser
You can use the program of your choice, on Windows or Mac systems.
- If you are not already logged in to your Twitch profile, do so now by clicking on "Log in" in the upper right corner.
- If you don't have an account you can create one by clicking on "Sign up" in the upper right corner.
Step 2. Click on your username
You will see it in the upper right corner of the site. Press it and a menu will open.
Step 3. Click on Channel
Your channel page will open, with the chat on the right.
Step 4. Type in chat / host, followed by a channel name
For example, if you want to host the main Twitch channel, type / host twitch. Your audience will be able to start following the user you are hosting. The chat will remain active, but all views will contribute to the total of the hosted channel.
To stop Host mode, type / unhost in chat
Method 2 of 2: Using Host Mode on Mobile Devices
Step 1. Open the Twitch app
The icon looks like a purple speech bubble with two lines inside.
- Press here to download Twitch from the Google Play Store on Android.
- Click here to download Twitch from the App Store on iPhone and iPad.
Step 2. If you haven't already, log in with the username or email and password associated with your account
Step 3. Press your profile picture
On Android you can see it in the upper right corner; on iPhone and iPad in the top left one. Press it and the profile options and contents will appear.
Step 4. Press the Chat button
It is the fourth under the profile picture. Press it and your channel chat will open.
Step 5. Type in chat / host followed by a channel name
For example, if you want to host the main Twitch channel, type / host twitch. Your audience will be able to start following the user you are hosting. The chat will remain active, but all views will contribute to the total of the hosted channel.
