This article explains how to change your YouTube profile picture. The YouTube account is directly linked to that of Google, so changing the image of the first profile will automatically change that of the second as well. You can log into your Google account directly from the YouTube website.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: Using a Computer
Step 1. Go to the website https://www.youtube.com/ using your computer's browser
You can use any internet browser available for Windows or Mac systems.
If you haven't signed in to YouTube yet, click the button Log in located in the upper right corner of the page and enter the email address and password associated with your Google account.
Step 2. Click the current profile picture
It is the circular icon located in the upper right corner of the YouTube website. A drop-down menu related to your account will appear.
If you have not set any image for your Google profile, the initial of your name will be visible in the indicated icon on a colored background
Step 3. Click the Settings option or icon
It should appear about halfway through the pop-up menu that appeared. In some cases it is characterized by a gear icon placed under the account name. The appearance of the "Settings" item varies depending on the page from which you have chosen to access the profile menu.
Step 4. Click Edit on Google
It is placed next to your name and current profile picture displayed in the "Settings" section. You will be redirected to the "About me" webpage of your Google account.
Step 5. Click the icon
placed in the center of the profile picture.
The latter has a circular shape and is located in the center of the pop-up window that appeared. In the center of the image is a camera icon: clicking it will display the "Choose a photo" dialog box.
Step 6. Click one of the existing photos or the Upload Photos option
If you've already uploaded photos to Google Photos or Google Drive, you can use one as your profile picture. If you need to upload a new image, click the item Upload photos.
Step 7. Click on the photo you want to use, then click the Open button
If you clicked the "Upload Photos" option, the operating system window that manages the computer's file system will be displayed. Use it to locate the photo to use, click it with the mouse to select it and finally click on the button You open, located in the lower right corner of the window. Your chosen photo will be loaded and displayed in the "Choose a photo" pop-up window.
Step 8. Click the Finish button
It is located in the upper right corner of the "Choose a Photo" dialog. The chosen image will be set as the profile image of Google and all connected services, including YouTube.
Method 2 of 2: Using a Mobile Device
Step 1. Launch the YouTube app
It is characterized by a red rectangular icon inside which there is the white symbol of the "Play" button. It is placed directly on the Home of the device.
Step 2. Tap your profile picture
It features a circular icon in the upper right corner of the YouTube app. The "Account" menu will appear.
Step 3. Tap your profile picture again
It has a circular shape and is displayed in the upper left of the "Account" menu.
Step 4. Select the icon
It features a gear and is located to the right of the account name, below the banner displayed at the top of the screen.
Step 5. Tap the camera icon

The "Choose a Photo" dialog will be displayed.
Step 6. Choose an option from Take photo or My photos.
At this point you can decide to take a new photo to use as a profile picture or to use one of the photos in the media gallery of the device. Follow these instructions:

Take a new photo
- Choose the option Take a picture.
- Use the Camera app to take a new photo (you may need to press the button Allow to authorize the YouTube app to have access to the device's camera).
- Tap the item OK or Use photos.
- Align the photograph so that it is centered within the box that appeared.
- Push the button Save or Use photos.

Use an existing photo
- Choose the option My photos.
- Tap the image you want to use to select it.
- Align the photo so that it is centered within the box that appeared.
- Push the button Save or Use photos.
Advice
The minimum size a photo must have to be used as a YouTube profile picture is 250 x 250 pixels
Warnings
- The largest rectangular image displayed at the top of your channel is the "Channel Art". If you want to change it, click the pencil icon located in the upper right corner of the image itself. Remember that this detail will not be displayed in the comments or within the video credits.
- If you are creating a new YouTube channel you will need to accept the Google terms of service. For example, you agree not to share your account login credentials with anyone and to follow the restrictions imposed on username changes or YouTube contests.
