Unless you have a private account, it's impossible to control people who follow you on Twitter. There is no official method to remove a follower from your profile, but you can prevent certain followers from accessing your feed by blocking and then unblocking them. This will remove them from your list without them receiving any notification.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: Mobile Device
Step 1. Tap the Twitter application
Step 2. Open your profile by tapping the icon depicted by a human silhouette at the bottom right
Step 3. Tap the "Follower" button
You will find it above the "Tweet", "Content" and "Like" items at the top of the screen.
Step 4. Tap the follower image you want to block:
in this way you will access his profile.
Step 5. Tap the icon depicting a gear or three dots:
is to the right of the follower's profile picture.
Step 6. Tap the "Block (username)" option
Step 7. When asked for confirmation, tap "Block" to officially block the selected follower
Step 8. Tap the "Blocked" icon, which has a red symbol
It is located at the top right.
Step 9. Tap "Unblock" when the pop-up menu appears
The follower should have been unblocked at this point, but will no longer follow your account
Method 2 of 2: Computer
Step 1. Log in to Twitter
If you are not already logged in, you need to enter the email you used to sign up on Twitter (or your phone number / username) and password.
Step 2. Click on the "Followers" option
It's to the left of your feed, just below your profile photo and background.
Step 3. Once you have selected the user you want to delete, click on the "More User Actions" gear icon
It is located to the left of the "Follow" or "Following" button, in the box containing the user information.
Step 4. When the drop-down menu appears, click on "Block (username)"
Step 5. When asked for confirmation, click "Block" again
Step 6. Click on the "Locked" button
It is located at the top right of the selected follower's profile box. After clicking on it, it will no longer be blocked, but it will have been removed from your follower list.
Advice
- There are several ways to access the profile of a user you want to block, including selecting their name in your Twitter feed by clicking or tapping them, or by searching for them in the site's search bar.
- Blocked users will not be able to contact you in any way on Twitter.
