If (for any reason) you have decided to permanently delete your Instagram account, you may be surprised by trying to do it directly from the social network's mobile app since the procedure is not at all simple and intuitive. Fortunately, you can use the "Help Center" section of the Instagram application main menu. After performing this step, permanently deleting Instagram from your life will be as simple as uninstalling its app from your iPhone. Note that it is not possible to recover data linked to an Instagram account after its deletion.
Steps
Part 1 of 2: Cancel the Account
Step 1. Launch the Instagram app by tapping its icon
You can delete your Instagram profile from the "Help Center" section of the "Settings" menu.
Step 2. Log in to your account page
To do this, tap the human silhouette icon in the lower right corner of the screen.
Step 3. Press the gear icon to access the "Settings" menu
It is located in the upper right corner of the screen.
Step 4. Choose the "Help Center" option
It is located in the "Assistance" section of the "Settings" menu at the bottom of the list that appears.
Step 5. Tap "Manage Account"
It is located at the top of the device screen.
Step 6. Tap the "Delete Account" link
You will be redirected to the official Instagram support page related to account deletion.
Step 7. Tap "How do I delete my account?
It is not necessary to read the content of this support page, as the Instagram administrators provide you with a link to the "Delete your account" page directly in the first step of the procedure described in the section in question.
Step 8. Select the "Delete your account" link
Once the "How do I delete my account?" of the support page in question should be visible within the passage number "1".
If you prefer to adopt a less definitive solution you can choose the option "Temporarily disable your account". In this case your profile will be deactivated becoming invisible to other users (but you will have the possibility to reactivate it at any time)
Step 9. Enter your username and corresponding login password
This step is to verify your identity and confirm the account to be deleted.
Press the "Login" button to go to the "Delete your account" page
Step 10. Tap the bar at the bottom of the page that appears
It is located under the text "Why do you want to delete your account?". You will be asked to choose the reason that prompted you to take this step.
Step 11. Choose the reason for deleting your Instagram account, then press the "Finish" button
This will display the rest of the form relating to the cancellation of the account.
Step 12. Re-enter your password
You will need to enter it in the text field "To continue, please enter your password again".
Step 13. Press the "Delete my account permanently" button
This way your Instagram account - and all data associated with it - will be permanently deleted.
Part 2 of 2: Uninstall the Instagram App
Step 1. Press the iPhone Home button
This way the Instagram app window will be minimized in the background showing the home screen of the device.
Step 2. Go to the home screen page where the Instagram app icon is present
The precise point varies based on the number of applications installed on the iPhone. If there are a lot of them, you will have to swipe the Home screen to the right several times.
Step 3. Tap and hold the Instagram app icon
This will put applications into delete mode. After a few moments, all the app icons present should start vibrating and a small "X" shaped badge should appear in the upper left corner of each one.
Step 4. Tap the little "X"
By doing this, you will indicate to the iOS operating system that you want to delete the Instagram application from the iPhone.
Step 5. When prompted, press the "Delete" button
This way the Instagram app - and all data associated with it - will be deleted from the device.
Advice
If you simply do not want to have the Instagram application on your smartphone, consider uninstalling it while keeping your account, because after deleting it you will no longer be able to recover its information
Warnings
- After deleting the Instagram account you will no longer have the option to restore it.
- Closing the Instagram profile also involves the permanent deletion of images, videos, comments and followers connected to it.
