Sina Weibo does not allow users to delete their account. If you don't want to use it anymore, you can delete all your posts and anonymize your personal information.
Steps
Step 1. Replace your personal information by entering false information
While it is not possible to delete your account, you can protect your identity by changing your name, address and city. Enter information other than your real data. Here's how to do it:
- Log in to Weibo;
- Click on the gear symbol in the upper right corner of the screen;
- Click on Account settings;
- Click on Edit next to the data you want to change;
- Replace all data by writing whatever you want;
- Save your changes.
Step 2. Delete your profile pictures
Since you are making your profile anonymous, you will definitely want to avoid anyone recognizing you from the photos.
Step 3. Delete all your publications
To completely hide on Weibo, remove everything you've posted by selecting the Delete option on each of your microblogs.
Step 4. Publish political or controversial (but not illegal) posts
Weibo is known to suppress accounts that are controversial or express unpopular opinions. By sharing unpopular ideas, it is possible for Weibo to delete the account for you. Obviously this must be done at your own risk.
- Make sure you are familiar with the laws and customs of the area you live in before posting on Weibo.
- According to what has been said by some users, replacing your profile picture with a political or controversial message could lead Weibo to cancel the associated account.
