This article explains how to delete a file on Android and remove it from the local storage of your mobile or tablet.
Steps
Step 1. Open the "File Manager" application on your device
Look for and tap the yellow and white folder icon on the apps menu to open "File Manager".
- On some versions of Android this application is called "My Files" or "File Explorer".
- If your device doesn't have a native file manager app, you can download and install a third-party app from the Play Store.
Step 2. Tap the ☰ icon at the top left
The menu panel will open from the left side of the screen.
Step 3. Search and tap the device name on the menu
The device name can be found under the "Download" option. Allows you to open the list of all files and folders.
If you want to delete a file on the SD card, tap the "SD Card" button under the device name
Step 4. Tap a folder to view its contents
By tapping on a folder you will see all the files and other folders found within it.
Step 5. Tap and hold the file you want to delete
This will select it and a green check mark will appear next to it.
If you want to delete multiple files at a time, tap on all the ones you want to select
Step 6. Tap the icon
This button is located next to the " ⋮"at the top right. Allows you to delete all the selected files by removing them from the" File Manager "application.
On some versions, instead of the "Delete" button, you can see the bin icon
Step 7. Tap Ok on the confirmation pop-up window
This will confirm the operation and all selected files will be deleted.
