Take a look at your trusty mousepad. That little piece of foam accommodates your mouse wonderfully, allowing it to rest and move with extreme agility. If it appears gray and dirty it means that it is time for a nice bath, to eliminate all traces of dirt and dead skin cells.
Steps
Step 1. Find out what the construction material of your mousepad is
Normally it is foam rubber covered with a thin layer of fabric or plastic material.
Step 2. Clean it according to the type of surface:
- since it is a fabric surface, rub it gently with a damp cloth and a small amount of shampoo. The shampoo is a gentle cleanser on fabrics and skin and is probably already in your possession.
- as it is a plastic covered mousepad, use a non-aggressive spray cleaner and apply it with a sponge or cloth. Alternatively, you can use dish soap or shampoo.
Step 3. Rinse the mousepad to remove all traces of detergent
Step 4. Dry it by blotting the surface with a clean dry cloth
Step 5. Hang the mousepad in the fresh air and let it dry completely before putting it back to work
Advice
- If parts of your mousepad are broken or indelibly stained, it means it's time to buy a new one.
- While you wait for the mousepad to be perfectly dry, clean your mouse and the surface of the desk on which you are going to put it.
Warnings
- If your desk surface is made of wood, let your mousepad dry longer.
- Don't be rushed and don't use the mouse on a damp mousepad.
- Use a cheap cloth or rag as they may get stained.
- If your mousepad is colored, make sure it can be washed without discoloring by first wetting a small part of it.
