After a funny fall, a run, a day spent entirely standing or a long walk, our ankles can be sore and require all our attention. Find out how to relieve pain by reading this helpful tutorial!
Steps
Step 1. Rest as much as possible
Lie down and take your weight off your ankles by lifting them with a soft object.
Step 2. Treat the sore ankle with a cold compress
Prepare an ice pack and place it on the inflamed area.
Step 3. Massage the sore area, applying adequate pressure, strong enough to be felt, but not too much so as not to increase the pain
Try twisting your ankle to relax and massage its muscles in an effort to reduce pain.
Advice
- Keep your foot elevated as long as possible.
- Experiment with a hot compress as well.
- Do not subject the painful ankle to excessive tension. Let it rest to speed up healing.
- Wear specific support making sure it is the right size.
- Wrap your ankle in a warm cloth and massage it from time to time. The heat will relieve the pain.
- Take a warm bath.
- If the pain gets worse, see a doctor for advice or an appointment.
- If you need to walk, wear an elastic anklet, which is available at any pharmacy.
- Stop exercising to ensure your ankle rests. Failure to do so will only increase the pain.
- The extra pounds put extra strain on the body.
