The grip is that very rough layer of sandpaper that sticks to the top of the skateboard to make sure the shoes don't slip on the board. Here's how to put it on!
Steps
Step 1. Buy some grip
Better to choose a well-known brand! Some very good ones are Alien Ware, Speed Demons, Mob, Black Magic, and Jessup.
Step 2. Place your board on the ground on a flat surface
Step 3. Clean your table thoroughly
Try to remove all dirt. You will need to make sure it is as clean as possible, otherwise the grip may not stick well and may come off soon.
Step 4. Remove the adhesive from the grip
Make sure it doesn't accidentally stick to something else.
Step 5. Start slowly from one end of the board and continue along the rest, pressing the grip firmly in order to remove any air bubbles (some brands prepare their grips with some holes so as not to create them, but it is still better to stay a lot watch out
).
Step 6. Make sure the grip lines up with the board:
it must be well centered and uniformly attached!
Step 7. Get a knife or utility knife
Cut off the extra grip.
Step 8. Use the utility knife to make very small incisions on the grip so as to remove any air bubbles that you have unwittingly created, if this has happened
Step 9. Take your screwdriver (or any non-sharp object) and run it along the board until the grip is white along the sides
This way, you will seal the ends of the grip well.
Step 10. Run the cutter along the outer edge of your skateboard to remove any imperfections
Advice
- You can use the extra grip to sand the edges of the board.
- Don't be too light with sanding, or else it won't do any good.
