The winged eyeliner technique allows you to create an elegant yet informal make-up, perfect for going to school, work or spending a night out. To start, make a base by drawing a line at the lashline. To draw the wings, use your fingers and a pencil. Any smudges and stains can be remedied with a cotton swab or concealer.
Steps
Method 1 of 3: Outline the Mobile Eyelid
Step 1. Before applying the eyeliner, dab some primer on the movable eyelids and massage them gently with your fingers
In this way the final effect created by the pencil and eyeshadow will be more intense.
Wash your hands before applying eyeliner
Step 2. Choose a creamy pencil
In general, thick, creamy eyeliners are easier to apply at the lashline.
- Choose a pencil that can be sharp.
- Coarse-tipped pencils create a thicker stroke, while fine-tipped pencils create finer lines.
Step 3. Start applying the pencil to the upper lashline starting from the inner corner of the eye
Since there should be no space between the liner line and the lash line, draw it as close to the hair as possible.
- Close one eye and pull the eyelid to straighten it for more control.
- Apply the pencil by drawing short, overlapping strokes.
Step 4. Thicken the line as you get closer to the outer corner
The line should be drawn along the entire mobile eyelid. Since it will need to turn into a wing, thicken it as you go along by drawing short horizontal strokes. It should get thicker as you get closer to the outer corner of the eye.
Step 5. Direct the line to where you want to draw the wing
As you get closer to the outer corner of the eye, the line should point up and out. Point it towards the outer corner of the eyebrow. Use it as a reference point to trace it.
Again, draw short overlapping strokes and trace them to thicken the line
Step 6. If necessary, reapply the color
Even though you have carefully placed the pencil, it is possible that the line is not completely uniform and that it has faded areas or stains. It may need to be traced several times to fill in the gaps and achieve the desired thickness. Once the first line has been drawn at the root of the upper lashes, retouch it to correct mistakes.
- The size depends on your preferences. When reapplying the pencil, trace it back to the desired thickness. Whatever it is, make sure the wing ends in a fine tip.
- Try using an angled brush and an eyeshadow of the same color as the pencil to blend and perfect it.
Method 2 of 3: Draw the Wings
Step 1. Draw three dots extending upwards starting from the outer corner of the eye, in order to have a reference point to create the wings
Remember that the wing should not go beyond the tip of the eyebrow. You should draw it in such a way that an imaginary line is created between the end of the eyebrow and the outer corner of the eye.
- Draw a dot next to the outer corner of the eye;
- Move the pencil upwards and draw a second dot at the crease of the eye;
- Draw a third dot parallel to the tip of the eyebrow. It should be close to the browbone.
Step 2. Connect the dots by drawing a line with the pencil:
it should start at the outer corner of the eye and end at the third dot. Go slowly to avoid smudging. At this point you should have a dash that will stretch out from the outer corner of the eye.
Step 3. Rejoin the line with the first line by drawing another line from the third dot to the center of the lashline
The line should slope towards the upper lash line, creating a triangle.
Step 4. Paint the triangle you created with the pencil
When finished, a wing should extend from the outer corner of the eye. Repeat on the other eye to complete the makeup.
Method 3 of 3: Correct the Errors
Step 1. Refine and shape the line with a clean angled brush, eliminating rough edges and pushing it further up
Trace the line at the upper lashline using the tip of the brush. Then, repeat on the wings to smooth out any uneven edges.
Step 2. If you made any mistakes during application, wipe off smudges and smudges with a cotton swab
Soak it in makeup remover and gently pat it on the smudged areas.
If the wings are not very symmetrical, the cotton swab can also help you correct them for a similar shape
Step 3. If you use the pencil frequently, try a makeup remover pen, available in perfumeries and makeup stores
It is practical to use for correcting smudges and other irregularities. This is especially useful for beginners, as it is common to make more mistakes at first.
