This is a fun and obviously quirky game for Christmas. It can also be used for other parties. Have fun playing with your friends and family.
Steps
Step 1. Before the meeting, ask all invitees to bring an inexpensive gift, one for each family member who wants to play the game
If you want you can ask them to label the package with "adult" or "child" depending on which age is more appropriate.
Step 2. During the party count the number of people who want to play and number the pieces of paper up to that number
Each participant must then take a numbered piece of paper. This is the order in which people will get the gifts.
Step 3. Number 1 chooses his gift and opens it
For now, this gift is kept.
Step 4. Number 2 chooses
After he has opened the package he can decide whether to exchange it with any other person in the room (at this point there is only 1 person to exchange with) or to keep it.
Step 5. One by one, following the numbers, all the people in the room choose a gift
When it's their turn, each person can exchange the gift with anyone in the room they want, but each gift can only be passed 3 times (once when chosen and then at most 2 more times).
Step 6. When everyone is done, the first person can exchange their gift with whomever they want, unless that gift has already been passed 3 times, so it's better to have the number 1
Advice
- The host should be very specific about the cost range of the gifts (like “up to 5 euros”).
- The host should have some extra gifts wrapped to surprise guests and for those who forgot to bring a gift.
- If there are only a few children or if they are very young (under 8 years old), the landlord could simply buy some toys for the children. Children can only choose from those gifts and adults will not take them.
- Alcoholic gifts should be labeled for adults only
